Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

It only makes sense for this to go to game 7 and then lose it all in Cleveland.

After getting the fans hopes up then watching it crash and burn on the home court. I've come to expect that from teams in this city, and I have this sinking feeling that's exactly what its going to come too.

pretty pathetic. Even today's interviews with LeBron revealed the care-free, non-interested, new version of LeBron. Something just isn't right.

As a sidenote, no matter how you slice it, John Calipari sitting courtside with LeBron's agent is embarrassing and uncalled for. Slap in the face to Coach Brown (who I dislike), slap in the face to Cleveland fans, and a slap in the face to teammates. What an awful distraction for everyone but LeBron since he's the only one who knows what is going on in terms of his pending free-agency.

Unless teammates do know what is going and that is why they seem to have checked out as well.

As a sidenote, if LeBron is ignoring play-calls, and slowing tempo down by himself when Mike Brown is asking for him to push it (which I don't think is happening), then I'm going out with a bang if I'm Mike Brown. I'm benching his ass, and letting the cat out after the game. "LeBron was being insubordinate on the court, and disrupting our ability to win by being a selfish player." Just let loose, especially if he isn'tcoming back anyways.

why is it so unlikely that lebron is ignoring play calls? it's been well documented in the past that many times LeIso is simply a Lebron call on the court and not what Brown called from the bench. of all the conjecture surrounding this whole thing, lebron ignoring mike brown is the most likely of all scenarios.

I would love to see this happen.

I personally, can't picture LeBron intentionally slowing the pace when Brown is screaming for the ball to be pushed. That is spitting in the face of a coach, and I think there'd be more info out there if this is the case. I can see LeBron calling a play for himself in a half-court set, much like Kobe does and MJ did.

Grabbing a rebound and walking the ball up when Brown is asking for them to push it is even worse though. That goes beyond turning a half-court playcall into "LeIso". It's the difference between being a superstar trying to make plays happen on one side of the court, and just directly slapping Mike Brown in the face and telling him to sit on the bench and shutup.

actually i can...and windhorst has said this has happened many times....he said the other day for either game 4 or 5, assistant coach chris jent was drawing up plays during timeouts that definitely werent "inbound ball to lebron have him stand at the top of the key till the shot-clock gets to 4 seconds"....i think lebron has about 0.0 respect for mike brown and the way he coaches and it has shown throughout the year...just recently calling out for more PT for JJ hickson, asking to defend rondo, not running the plays coach wants....if lebron stays in cleveland, mike brown will not

brian windhorst is directly quoted as saying while sitting courtside that he heard mike brown several times yell for the cavs to push the ball and lebron walked it up court. this was both during timeouts and in the course of the game. lebron has ignored brown before. so, this is not a stretch.

FWIW:

Mike Brown out, John Calipari in?

07:19 AM ET 05.13 | If the Cavs are going to keep LeBron James, they may have to be willing to make drastic moves. Make no mistake about it, the first foot out the door should the Cavaliers lose Game 6 won't be wearing Nike. Maybe you didn't notice, but that wasn't the grim reaper sitting behind Cleveland's bench during Boston's stunning 32-point Game 5 victory on Tuesday. That was John Calipari, the Kentucky coach and LeBron's BFF who will surface as the front-runner to take over the Cavs if and when Brown fails to reach the NBA Finals. You can even throw Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Larry Brown and Jeff Van Gundy into the mix because the coach goes before a two-time MVP walks. Every time.

Can anyone figure out a reason why the Cavs just haven't gone huge on the Celtics? The Garnett matchup with Jamison is clearly an issue with the height mismatch so why not put Jamison at the 3 like Brown was experiencing with toward the end of the season. Varejao could guard Garnett, Lebron could be your 2 and Parker/Moon and Shaq could be your other 2 guys.

This would get Mo off the floor (thank god), solve them just throwing it in to the post to Garnett, and Pierce isn't as quick as he used to be so Jamison can bang with him a little and bother him with his height. Then you post up Jamison or Lebron on whoever Allen is guarding and let them go to work. Create your own mismatches.

Is there any reason we haven't tried this yet or am I just crazy?

It usually takes Herr Kartoffelkopf about 20 games to arrive at that kind of adjustment.

i see your point but man this would just make our offense even worse...i think going small works better but mike brown has been reluctant to try that in long stretches

I'm thinking drastic things need to happen in the offseason for Cleveland.

1) If LeBron stays
If LeBron stays, a new coach will be needed along with a total revamp of supporting players around him. The cast that is currently around him is not getting the job done. Mike Brown and LeBron are obviously butting heads as of recently and it is starting to show. Personally i think Brown has done a great job with the talent he is given...but the front office will more then likely keep an MVP over any coach. At the same time of getting a new coach, i think the Cavs almost need to clean house on the player side. This will give them more salary to work with because i'm sure they are overpaying alot of the current players. With the revamp it is a must for the front office to bring in a real all-star supporting cast member. Jamison and Shaq do not count. If the Cavs do not do this, i think LeBron is gone.

2) If LeBron leaves
If LeBron takes off the land of money and ring hopes, then the Cavs will have a huge hole to fill. If LeBron is gone, i don't think the Cavs need to worry about a coach. Like i said, Brown has done a great job for the talent he is currently given. It is basically LeBron & a Rag-Tag group, yet they had the best record in the NBA and have done alot better then what i would expect them to do. Now to fill the hole with one player will not do. There is not another LeBron in the NBA, so to replace him you would need at least 2 more guys. While finding players to replace him, i think they need to think about getting rid of current players on the roster. The current players will not be able to keep it together and be competitive without LeBron...just look what happen the other night when LeBron decided not to hardly play.

This is what i think the Cavs have going for them in the upcoming offseason. Now i am not a Cavs fan, so this is from an outsiders point of view...so you may think i'm totally wrong in some areas. This is just my opinion.
