CB Jakailin "JK" Johnson (Transfer to LSU)

How does a safety coming in make one of the six or seven corners we have want to leave?

I don’t think one had a single thing to do with the other.
It doesn’t. Carter is in for McAllister for the experienced cover S.

Surprising departure.
Seemed to be passed by Hancock and Brown on the depth chart by end of the year, but would still have opportunity to win the job next year.
Very surprising transfer. But Burke, Hancock, Brown are a great 3 man rotation. And hold on to Ryan Turner, he’s been the forgotten man

The problem is there is no depth. We get one and lose two. It's not like any of these kids are rock stars, however, they are all we got.

This crap is getting scary.

The time is now for the Portal. See what we have. And then hit the Portal again in May. I don’t want to put a lot of faith in the true frosh. I rather plan for the worst and hope for the best with any true frosh

This. Not sure if 15 DBs total is the right number for an 85 man roster but 1/3 of that are true freshman even with the new transfer.

Both Safety and CB positions have true freshmen (that aren't even here yet) in the 3 deep. That means you are an injury or two away from a true freshman playing or someone having to play out of position. You are a rash of injuries away from being completely fucked. Likewise, from the depth up to starter perspective, these guys are all on special teams. They get banged up there and you have zero depth before you know what happened. Lastly, we aren't even taking into account how good of a player anyone is. We're just talking the bare minimum number of bodies to have a 3 deep. So really you are 1 injury, 1 ineffective and 1 home sick freshman away from disaster. It's most definitely portal time.

Oh, by the way fuck Grinch and whoever else contributed to this mess over the past 4 years.

Interesting that the #3 ranked CB can't find the field for us in two years
cuz it's not like Latimore and Denzel are manning our posts

Yep. I don't want to knock on JK too much. But any DB who couldn't get on the field too much last year with the product that was out there I'm not going to worry too much about them leaving. Its a hit for depth purposes but other than that, meh.

The Ohio State to LSU pipeline (Burrow, Banks, and now Johnson) continues...

Good luck at LSU.

With Banks set to return to LSU for another year after taking a redshirt due to injury this past season, the Tigers could potentially have two starting cornerbacks next season who previously played at Ohio State, though they also added a transfer commitment from former Syracuse cornerback Duce Chestnut on Sunday.
