CB Ryan Watts (transfer to Texas)

Gonna take a while to get used to this.
No kidding.
We certainly aren’t the only school dealing with it.
The transfer portal and NIL have changed the sport.
I can see why Urban didn’t want to deal with it.
We are going to need to adjust our operation.

One of the unintended consequences is fewer scholarships being offered to HS kids as colleges will use the portal to fill needs with a more mature product.

I don’t have any idea on the staff/resources dedicated to identifying and evaluating talent.
All I know is that Italian guy runs it.

Whatever it is it needs to be increased.

The portal and NIL are here and the price of poker.
We and everyone else will lose players every year above what we are used to.
We need resources to focus solely on the portal lest we fall behind.

I hope so cause Watts was a starter next year……only thing that makes sense is bitterness over not getting more PT this year, which I can’t really argue with him on.

That or he was notified a guy like Cam Brown/Sevyn Banks is coming back and will cut into his PT.

Im just speculating….
It got buried as the last post on the last page, but my speculation is
Young guys making a move in bowl practice?

My confusion is he’d be the young guy making the move, right?

Just weird…..he came in as a ball hawking CB and showed that ability in his limited time.

kinda confusing to me…..

But I refuse to be surprised anymore. For all we know he’s a package deal with Ewers!!!! (That’s a bad joke).

Watts wasn’t gonna be a starter. He may have played more, but he wasn’t gonna start.

At CB, he fell behind a few guys. When he got moved to safety, he never got much time.

I wonder what the issue is though. To me, he looked way better than Cavazos during the Minnesota game.
