CB Travis Howard (Official Thread)

Travis hasnt taken many visits if Im not mistaken... the fact we're number 1 right now on his list, doesnt mean all that much to me since he has to take a bunch more official visits... Id feel a lot better if he had an offer too..

Ill be bummed if we dont offer and land this kid.. he's a fast rising player from Miami.. and if he played last yr like he's playing this year, he'd probably be getting alot more attention nationally..

it apparently meant more to howard than you.

Malcolm Jenkins 2.0

He'll be a little raw at first, but with his athleticism, he'll either be a shut down corner or an excellent free safety before he leaves Ohio State.

I LOVE this offer.

Watching his videos I thought it was Chimdi Chekwa all over again... About the same size, same (listed ) 40-time... This kid is going to be a player...

I think Howard is much more physical than Chimdi is. Chimdi is a technician at corner, where as Malcolm is more of a bruiser type that likes to jam and hit. I see Howard being much more of a hitter than Chimdi is.

If he turns out like either one though, we'll be set. :)

Wow - that came mighty quick.

Excellent news as well. Plus you have to like the idea of Howard and Brewster tag-teaming Sabino ...

:oh:

:io:

So how does this affect the scholarship situation?

Does the offer and commit from Howard preclude a Shaq Rowell offer or a Greg Scruggs offer? With Sabino, Pryor, Scott remaining as probables and Mobley as a good chance, we're not left with much room for new offers.

In those discussions, we thought Floyd was likely OSU-bound... so Howard's verbal cancels that out.

My short answer is that it's a safe bet to assume we'll have at leat 3 schollies open up via draft departures, and a potential for 5 plus transfers.

I don't think the Howard offer has anything to do with Scruggs and Rowell...I think the only thing this does is maybe take the Harris offer off the table.
