Just found this article on ESPiN.

Ex-Louisville lineman alleges beating
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A former Louisville player has sued the school and coach Charlie Strong and says he was coerced into covering up a beating in the locker room by a pair of teammates.

Former Cardinals defensive lineman Patrick Grant of Sunrise, Fla., alleges that two teammates attacked him Oct. 24, 2010, in the locker room at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and, according to the lawsuit, beat him "so badly that he required immediate, urgent care and nearly lost his left eye."

Grant says that, while on the way to the hospital, the team's trainer told him to "lie and cover up the fact that his injuries were at the hands of his teammates."

"Out of fear and a desire to play, Patrick lied as instructed, telling the doctor he was horsing around in the locker room and hit his eye on a locker door," attorney Gregg Hovious of Louisville wrote in the suit, filed Dec. 21 in Jefferson Circuit Court in Louisville.

Very strong allegations.

I think this whole business may be reminiscent of Tyson Walter and LeCharles Bentley.

And make no mistake, Tyson Walter was not the actual aggrieved party there, regardless of how thoroughly his ass had been whupped by LeChuck.

Makes me wonder why Strong took away his scholarship. Feels like there's something Grant is not telling us.

Agreed. There is a big missing link here. Both Jacob and Isaac Geffard were already criminally charged with assault on Patrick Grant. With that said, whats the need for a cover up?

IMO, immediately following the tag-team on Grant the coaching staff wanted to cover it up publicly and handle it in-house. It was Strong's first HC gig, first year at Louisville, and had a 5-5 team. Probably thought the best thing he could do is not allow it to reach the public surface. Somewhere following that the story got out and for whatever reason all three players were stripped of their scholarships.

Im thinking the missing link is what the fight was really over. Maybe something that was a violation in team or university rules to begin with?

Report that Texas offered Charlie Strong the job.

I may end up being wrong, but I'm not sure Strong is the answer for Texas. He's done well at Louisville, but that is with Bridgewater and against a horrible conference. That said, the Texas opening came at a bad time--I'm not sure there's a lot of great candidates out there. If I were a Texas fan, though, I probably would have wanted Mora from UCLA.
