CES needs to be up to see what we've got with him. The problem is, and this is not the only case, he's an infielder and the Reds org is in a tough spot with the roster crunch and imbalance between infielders and outfielders.

First thing I would do is drop the 3rd catcher. Stephenson is everyday, Maile is the defensive backup catcher. You know what Casali is at this point in his career, let him go or trade him if you can. i am not going to really argue with anyone one way or the other here.

Kevin Newman: he's hitting well of late but has a big platoon split. He's versatile but he's also a veteran guy who can only play infield. If he has any value at all, cash it in. He isn't part of the answer now, or in the future.

You do those two things and you start to see something like this:
C: Stephenson/Maile
1B/DH: Votto & CES
2B: McLain
SS: EDLC
3B India

Bench: Choose between Newman (if you must) Barrero (IF you can work him in a rotation to get regular ABs. If not, send him down to get them).

Outfield
First, DFA Myers. He's toast. 1b is get Friedl and Fraley healthy (supposed to be today). No idea on Senzel's health but Ramos is doing a rehab assignment now. Ramos has options so I don't know why you'd keep him in Cincy even if he's healthy.

My personal outfield would be something like this

CF: Freidl
LF: Steer
RF: Senzel/Fraley platoon

Choose: Fairchild or Benson

I could also see getting rid of Newman and making Steer your super sub if an OF should emerge and claim a regular role.

My everyday lineup would them be something like:

1. India 3B
2. McLain 2B
3. EDLC SS (development pending obviously)
4. Steer LF
5. CES DH (see EDLC)
6. Fraley/Senzel RF
7. Votto
8. Stephenson (catcher hits eight dude)
9. Friedl (I like putting leadoff caliber guys 9th to start us over again)

Just some musing on the offense. The pitching, specifically the health and development of the starters, is the constraint on how well they can do this year.

That should be one of the best defensive teams in the league as well. It's bonnets seeing Votto down at 7. If they could make that work we'd be in heaven
