[FONT=arial,sans-serif]Report: Collins out as Browns president
WTAM News Radio 1100 is reporting that John Collins is out as Browns president.

WTAM's Mike Trivisonno broke the story this morning, also reporting the move means Phil Savage will stay on as the team's General Manager.

Collins' departure comes after a power struggle that resulted in the apparent firing of Savage on Friday before owner Randy Lerner stepped in and took control of the situation.

Stay tuned to cleveland.com for more on this developing story.

RUMOR: Browns To Fire John Collins

I only put this here in the Rumor Mill because we know the great job ESPN did with the Phil Savage reporting earlier....

Browns' shakeup claims Collins, not SavageBy Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

There will be a shakeup in the Cleveland Browns' front office but it apparently will not involve general manager Phil Savage.

In a remarkable twist, sources confirmed Tuesday to ESPN.com that John Collins, who has served as Browns' team president since May 1, 2004, will not continue in that capacity. It is unclear whether Collins will remain with the team or perhaps move on to the corporate holdings company of owner Randy Lerner, as some other Cleveland officials have recently done.

There have been rumors, adamantly denied by Collins, that he preferred to move back to New York. Before joining the Cleveland franchise, Collins worked 15 years in the league office in a variety of positions. He is a New York native who spent much of his scholastic and professional life in the city.

How the Cleveland front office makeover will shake out when it is completed remains to be seen. But it appears that Savage, one of the league's most respected talent evaluators, will be part of the front office team.

The Akron Beacon Journal reported Tuesday that Savage would stay on as general manager.

Last week, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that Savage would be fired because of "philosophical differences" with some members of the organization, and several sources confirmed that was the case. But the public reaction to the report was so strong, and the backlash so negative, it appears Browns officials reconsidered the move.

Coach Romeo Crennel also met with Lerner and supported keeping Savage, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.

Collins said that the Browns' management team huddled on Friday night and "renewed [its] vows," but even then speculation swirled that Savage might still depart.

This sounds like the right move for the Browns rather than all the BS that went down last week. Crennel and Savage are the best things to happen to the Browns since they've been back.

For now I would like to see the Browns take the best DL available in the first round. Carpenter in the second, and it would be nice to see them take Kudla in the 3rd or 4th. I see Carp and Kudla as Mike Vrabel type of players that could be OLB's for the Browns.

If Carpenter is available when the Browns pick in the 2nd round me thinks some fans will kill Savage if he doesn't pick him. I keep dreaming about that scenario all the time. I just seeing Carpenter being the perfect OLB rush backer in the 3-4 defense.

While I think DL is where they will go with pick #12 I would still prefer LT. There are quite a few available that are first round caliber this year. Whether they trade down to get better value for picking a Marcus McNeil/Jonathan Scott or if Winston Justice comes out and is there at #12 I don't want Shelton starting at LT next year.

shelton is a FA. I don't see him being resigned at all. I could see a LT at #12, then hope that either DeMeco Ryans or Carpenter falls to round 2. I'm already touting the NT from Stanford in round 3.

Shocked if Kudla is still around in 3rd or 4th round...

I would be shocked if Kudla is still around in the 3rd or 4th round. I expect him to tear up the combine with a 4.6ish 40 and 40+ reps of the 225. This combined with his solid year should get scouts drooling.

Should he drop to the third or fourth round, he'd be one heck of a bargain for an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. He'd be like a shorter Vrable.

I know Kudla will be a combine freak, but I don't see him going better than the 3rd. His size will hurt him since he probably isn't big enough play DE in a 4-3. He best bet is OLB in a 3-4. Carp is probably a reach to be around for the 12th pick in the second, but I'm aloud to dream.
