Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I would love to see Lovie...but I doubt they'll go that way. Owners are always looking for that "diamond in the rough" asssistant or college guy these days...I imagine Haslam will be no different.

Why would anyone want Lovie? Have you seen his teams the past few years?

I have seen his teams - playing good 4-3 defense and contending for playoff spots. I'd like to see what he could do without Jay Cutler strapped to his back and with a feature RB who actually gets in the end zone. Hell, he got Rex Grossman to a Super Bowl.

Seems to me like he beats the hell out of the alternatives at this point.

Well, one of the knocks I had with Lerner about 5 years ago was he tried to get Pioli as GM and was turned down. Then Lerner hired Mangini as coach and Mangini had a say in the hiring of Kokinis as GM. Besides being ass backwards, that kinda indicated to me that Lerner had no clue nor a plan for the franchise.

I am not saying that Haslam does not have a clue nor a plan, just saying that hiring a coach then a GM doesn't sit well with me. Especially having Banner in the mix.....

Keith Britton ‏@KeithBritton86 Haslam said coach first, then GM in search

That doesn't bother me too much because I think under Banner the coach is going to determine the 53 man roster. I really don't know how much input the GM is going to have in making personnel decisions under this new regime.

Well, I sure hope he shows me more next season because right now I do not think that he was worthy of a 3rd pick and after watching Morris from the Redskins it makes me want to question Heckert. Not saying that I wasn't in favor of the selection when they made it but I thought he would have given more. Broken ribs can slow a man down.

I have lost the little bit of respect I have for your opinions with this statement. I know you qualified and it what not but come on. Trent showed me a lot this year, led the team in receptions, faced a stacked box with young, inexperienced receivers, and a 29 year old rookie QB. Not to mention some pretty shitty guards and a rookie RT(who was a great pick but he was still a rookie.) The guy played with three broken ribs he was every bit that 3rd pick and I think he will more than prove it to you and everyone else next year. (end rant)

The reasoning behind coach first, GM second is that Banner is planning on having a decent bit of control in the front office or he is looking at a coach like Chip Kelly or Gruden thats going to want a lot of say in the front office moves. Now if Gruden really is interested in coaching again, you throw a stack of money at him, so much he can't say no. Otherwise, I like Roman from the 49ers, and I would at least give Chip Kelly a chance to see if he could develop any sort offense that would actually work in the NFL.

BTW if Banner gets power hungry he could cost a few solid GM or coach options. I'm starting to get worried that he is going to fuck this all up.

Little led the team in receptions that that is not a opinion.

Maybe on a team that has the ability to pull in a quality coach after that failure occurs. But not this team. Can't take a gamble on a man that has zero NFL experience and even less experience running a system that works at the highest levels of play.
