Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

I would not mind seeing the Browns take a look at Hartline rather than Wallace. $10 mil is a little too much for a WR. If not Hartline, there are some other WRs with some speed that will be looking for more money than their club can give them.

We will also need to pick up a pickup a TE in free agency and a FB for Turner's offense.

Instead of taking Flacco, I would throw a little money at Ellerbe, Carey Williams, and perhaps Kruger. That would sufficiently weaken the ratbirds.

banner is pretty tight with money so no way i see the browns paying 10 mil a year...but i am excited about us possibly going after him...last year was an off year IMO...training camp holdout and the big ben injury didnt help

banner isn't necessarily tight with money. but he won't bow to contract demands. banner was responsible for shelling out the cash for some of the contracts philly has now. what he's best known for was not caving into desean jackson's demands, which ultimately, proved to be wise.

now will he give mike wallace $10 million per year? no. nor should he. but he wouldn't pinch pennies if he could sign wallace to what the market dictated.

I can't make up my mind whether this is good or bad because I think he just probably will agree with Banner just like Lombardi.
Haslam stressed that he'll still be one of the team's four decision-makers, along with CEO Joe Banner, coach Rob Chudzinski, and Vice President-Player Personnel Mike Lombardi.

"I probably will not go to the [NFL] combine next week, but I wasn't planning on going before this so that hasn't changed anything," he said. "We'll have plenty of representatives there. I'll be [in Cleveland] the day before the combine. We're going to have an all-day meeting on our free-agent plans. Then I'll be there after the combine to analyze it and finalize our free agent plans which I believe the key dates are March 12-16.

"The next really two and a half months, with free agency and the draft, are vitally important to the Cleveland Browns and we're going to be heavily involved."

He said he'll help decide on all key player acquisitions in free agency, trades and the draft, April 25-27.

"Absolutely," he said. "Joe and I had an hour and a half conversation [Monday night]. I was driving back from Nashville after visiting stores all day and we went through where we are on all the key personnel, both coaches, players, etc. and we'll continue to be very involved.

Can we please get someone to rush the f***n passer this year! We have never had a legitimate pass rush since our return to the league...Put me in the camp for not signing Wallace...I think Benjamin could possibly suffice as a slot WR instead of dishing out that money to Wallace...I say that with little confidence though..
I want us to be major players in free agency but very careful and selective about it...If we make the right moves we can markedly improve but only if we Weeden improves....We will never win on a consistent basis until we have above average QB play...QB is the single most important position in sports and frankly ours have sucked....That being said I will eagerly wait and watch what moves we make!
