Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Love and Thompson are going to be really disappointed when LeBron signs elsewhere. :roll2:
Cocksucker's been trolling us all along!

I don't know why the Warriors wouldn't offer Green a max deal. They would be better off giving him 5 years at a current max deal than matching 4 years on someone else's max deal and have to pay him more to resign after the cap goes up. Unless he really is a turd that over-performed this year and they would rather let him walk than give him a max deal.

Other people have said it here, but max deals now won't be that bad in 2-3 years when the cap goes up so you might as well lock down your good players for as many years as you can.

Love announces return to Cavs, reportedly will get $110M deal

Love agreed to terms on a maximum contract of five years that could be worth more than $110 million, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because details have not been released. No NBA contract can be signed until July 9.

Tristan Thompson to sign lucrative extension with Cavaliers, per report

Restricted free agent Tristan Thompson and the Cleveland Cavaliers are nearing agreement on a deal worth "in excess of $80 million," according to ESPN's Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst. The length of the deal hasn't been reported yet, but it will likely be a five-year pact running through the 2019-20 season.

Perfect! Thompson is still being overpaid, but hell its nice to have a young 6'9" workhorse in the paint.
He's a good backup for Love, Mozgov and Varejao, depth is vital.
Plus he has a year of chemistry, getting to the Finals, which I think helps.
Also, isn't the timing perfect, when the Cavaliers build the best team in the league, the Cap goes up a huge amount...That's just awesome.

Its funny all our best guys are on multi-year deals..Lebron wont be, he didn't opt-out this year just to make an extra 400k.
Someone has to make sure management doesn't do anything stupid.

Kyrie Irving, 23: Four years, with a player option
Tristan Thompson, 24: Five years
Kevin Love, 26: Five years
LeBron: Probably forever.

That's somewhere around 75M a year. Almost 19M a year average...For FOUR guys.
By comparison, Miami had Wade, Bosh and Lebron in their prime for 16M each.

The Cavs could significantly reduce their luxury tax payment if they were able to move Varejao. LeBron likes playing with him so it probably won't happen, but the guy isn't worth 10 million a year. He's probably not worth five.

The last real question is what happens with JR. Apparently the Cavs have suitors on the Haywood contract. They could bring in a JR replacement on that deal. After his Finals performance, I'm certainly not against it. What does GM LeBron think?

Anybody feel like running down a list of things the media has completely missed regarding Cleveland in the last calendar year?
LeBron isn't coming back
Kevin Love is not joining the Cavs
LOL Cavs traded top pick!
LeBron hates his new coach
Cavs are doomed with start to year
Kevin Love hates it in Cleveland
David Blatt will be fired
Cavs won't win the East
LOL Cavs traded another top pick!!
LeBron hates Kevin Love
David Blatt will still be fired
Cavs won't make the Finals
Did we mention David Blatt will be fired?!
Kevin Love is leaving

Throw in the lazy "LeBron is leaving" article every couple weeks and I think I'm close- though I know I am forgetting a bunch. Can't remember in my life the media just WILLING AND WISHING stories to happen for the sake of building an agenda against a team.

Well, other than 2004: Ohio State.

tl;dr- fuck the media
