High School Cleveland Glenville Tarblooders

ESPN is reporting that it was not a helicopter but a pteradactyl that was cloned from secret DNA. Tressel funded the operation with University money and the pteradactyl will be used for secret missions to fly players' parents to and from games.

Damn. I knew Craig's Molecular Genetics degree would pay off.

My question is how does a rumor like that get started? I have a serious problem with the current media. Both sports and politics. The medias job is to report news/facts. Not report stories/propoganda.

Anyway, this whole thing is getting rediculous. I hope that media continues to get egg on their faces over attacking OSU.

The Glenville Rumor

I was a track and cross country coach at Moeller High School in Cincinnati for 20 years. In 1983 we had a conflict involving one of our sprinters, D'Juan Francisco, and graduation. We were competing in the pre-lims at the SW Ohio Regional meet at Welcome Stadium in Dayton. The 200 pres were among the last of the day's events and they ran Divisions I, II and III on the same day. Graduation began at 8. A Notre Dame alum stepped in and provided a chopper to pick DJ up from the parking lot at Welcome and dropped him off at the grounds of Landmark Baptist, where the graduation ceremony took place. DJ had already signed with ND and so I think that made it legal, but it raised a real stink in the press at the time.

I'm going to guess that would still be considered a violation whether the dude was already signed, already playing for or otherwise, for a booster to provide that service to a student athlete/future student athlete.

I guess a few years back East Grand Rapids had a very wet field for a football game. One of the residents hired a helicopter to come in and fly over the field until it was dry. EGR is where Kevin Grady plays and was the basis for the town in the American Pie movies.

and yet more blatant proof that watching tv stunts peoples imaginations.

This is from memory, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but...

At the end of the Michigan game, an African American guy in a brown leather coat gave TGII a hug. Who knows who that guy is? Could be just a fan who made his way onto the field. It WAS NOT Coach Ginn.

Danielson, in an effort to create a dramatic moment, said "I think I just saw Ted Ginn's dad on the field congratulating him."

Sure Gary. African American kid, African American guy, must be his dad!!!

Someone go back and watch the celebration portion of the game, right as the clock runs out and see if that's accurate.

I'm Mr. Someone, not Mr. Such-n-Such.

Following instructions, I just reviewed the tape. When they show Ted Ginn, Jr. about 10 seconds after the game clock went to 0:00, he is near Troy Smith and a man has his arm around Troy while saying something to him.

Danielson says a couple of seconds later "I actually believe I saw Ted Ginn Sr. down there hugging Troy Smith down on the field."

The guy that had his arm around Troy Smith was wearing a butt-ugly hat of a dark shade similar to the uniforms of the losing team, with the letter of the alphabet between 'L' and 'N' on it. That should have been the clue that the man wasn't Ted Ginn, Sr.

IMO, the rumor got started due to Danielson's idiotic comment.

The PD story didn't bother me one bit. TGSr rebuffed the rumor. This isn't an example of the yellow journalism undertaken by friEndSucksPeNis. The "story" had no slant or opinion; a lot of quotes from TGSr and even JT. Much closer to journalism than the suspense novel friEndSucksPeNis tried to pass off as journalism.
