The competitive window is closed. This bullpen is too much of a mess to patch up. I’m not even sure they can win this lousy division, it’s that bad. Even if they do, they’ll get murdered in the first round. Farm system isn’t exactly looking very fertile, so we’re probably 6-7 years minimum from the next run. Fuck this cursed goddamn franchise.
Don't look now, but the Tribe has won five in a row....

Kluber is a top-5 starter in the MLB, and Bauer, Carrasco, and Clevinger would be a #1 or #2 starter on most teams.

Lindor-Brantley-Ramirez is as good a 1-2-3 as any team in baseball (combined .313 BA, 38 HR, 106 RBI, .962 OPS). If Encarnacion and/or Alonso get hot, then this offense can be deadly. The Tribe averaged six runs per game in May, and they are second in MLB with 81 home runs. There are some holes in the line-up (Kipnis, whoever is in right field), but the Tribe's 1-thru-5 can carry the team.

On the down side, defense is inconsistent and the bullpen is generally bad.

Win 86 games, win the division, and roll the dice in the playoffs. If Miller returns to form and Edwin or Yonder gets on a hot streak, then this team can go a long way with 4 solid starters and excellent production at the top of the order.

Could be a repeat of the 1997 team....

Just glanced at the Clippers’ roster. Other than Bieber (maybe; we’ll learn more on him tonight) don’t expect any bull pen help soon from there. Maybe Mitch Talbot? :bonk: No wonder they’re doing waiver wire deals for almost anyone with a pulse.

I know it might sound nuts, but if Bieber can start at MLB level they can move Droneboy to the pen. He seems to have the arm bounce back fast......

You're right - it's nuts.

Bauer is #7 ERA, #7 Ks, #5 WAR, and #4 FIP among AL pitchers. He's the Tribe's #2 starter right now. He's not going anywhere if he continues to pitch like this.

Okay, I take it all back. This team just blew an 8-0 lead to the god awful Twins.
