Cleveland Indians Thread of Malaise (2014 Season)

Well I met Andrew before the 1st game was nice to catch up a bit, then saw his mom and one of his sisters before the 2nd. He threw well in the 2nd game but didn't get any run support and had to be taken out after 5 because of his pitch count.

In typical Tribe fashion they have pissed away game 2.....shitting away 2 golden opportunities in extras

theres still the bottom of the inning down 1-0 but with Holt, Gomez and Ramirez up its not likely

Why wouldn't you bunt Santana with Brantley on 2nd and no outs? Instead he strikes out, Dickerson strikes out, and Walters grounds out to first.

Fundamental baseball. Bunt the guy over to 3rd and trust that a major league baseball player should be able to lift a sac fly somewhere, anywhere into the outfield.

For starters, Santana has NO sacrifice bunts in his ML career, as in none, never! He last had a bunt in 2008 when he was in the minors, and he only had a grand total of 3 bunts in 5+ minor league seasons.

At least the yinzers are picking up the rest of the $. The Tribe needs more bridge guys to Crockett, Shaw, Atchison and Allen in 2015. I'm assuming Tito will bring the old man back. Hagadone looks a bit better but still scary with runners on.

From Closer to let go on waiver claim in only 6 months...impressive, Mr. Axford. Even Kerry Wood didn't flame out that fast.

Wood was dumped a bit faster though. He was traded on July 31, 2010 to the Yankers and the Tribe tossed cash into the deal to get rid of him. They did get a couple warm bodies back as PTBNL, Andrew Shive and Mike Cusick. In classic Tribe fashion, Wood went on a hot streak with the Yankers, posting a .069 ERA in 26.0 innings (after giving the Tribe 6.30 ERA in 20.0 innings). Just no way that Axford can match that, can he?

UWalk-O's issues aside, scoring 1 run in 2 games isn't going to win very many ballgames. The offense hasn't looked the same since Machado got hurt primarily because that has made Showalter have to use Chris Davis regularly again.
