Coaches leaving after signing day discussion

Wilcher was apparently whining on the radio again yesterday, so yeah.
He's a Michigan Man, so maybe he needs some cheese to go along with all that whine.

This is just a twist on the No True Scotsman fallacy.
Weber has every right to be a bit upset, Drayton has every right to take another job offer. I don't have a problem with how it played out. As Mike stated, if Weber wants out... fine.

All that said, I thought it was pretty clear a couple days ago that Wilcher was more upset than anyone else and still attempting to recruit Weber for Michigan. Now that his mother has come out, I think that's been proven definitively.
It's just sour grapes because Cass Tech's Head Coach played at Michigan with Harbaugh.

The only flaw in your argument is that Harbaugh is, and always has been, such a flaming asshole, that it's hard to believe that being his teammate would cause one to view him favorably.

Buckeyesin07: "Wilcher was apparently whining on the radio again yesterday, so yeah."
Wingate1217: "He went to Michigan. Do you expect anything different?"
Wilcher remembers what Gholston did to Michigan in his OSU years and has nightmares of what Weber might do, especially when paired with Elliott and Samuels.

Dunno if this has been brought up yet or not, but this is one of the reasons why I think that the best of the best recruits should consider not signing an NLI, or at least delay it until after the firing/hiring season is done.

The head coach is one thing, but committing to a school specifically for a position coach is ridiculous given how much bouncing around coaches do today. But if that's what is important to a kid, and they are coveted enough to pull it off and don't mind being recruited all through senior year, just hold off to make sure nothing like this happens.

2015 Longhorns signee won’t enroll at UT; Sooners a possibility

The Red River Shootout has extended from the playing field to a quasi extension of the recruiting trail.

This past February, Du’Vonta Lampkin became a member of Texas’ 2015 recruiting class by signing his National Letter of Intent with the football program. However, an academic situation involving a non-English language requirement will lead the defensive lineman to seek out another college option.

From the Cypress Creek Mirror:

Texas has a foreign language requirement Lampkin hasn’t met – in this case Spanish – that other schools don’t have.

Lampkin said he would’ve had the chance to fully meet that requirement in summer school and then enroll in August. However, citing previous experience, Lampkin said he didn’t want to risk failing to meet the requirement in the summer and subsequently have to enroll at a junior college.

“If I take that summer school class now for Spanish and it doesn’t go well, then I end up in a junior college,” he said. “That’s not the route I really want to take.”

FWIW, I can totally relate to that "foreign language requirement thing". I had 2 years of Spanish in high school and hated it. I just manged to eek out a "D" in the second year. The (Lancaster high School) guidance counselors said 2 years of a foreign language was a requirement for college. In retrospect I don't think that was 100% true. What I really liked about Ohio State's engineering program (back in 1966) is that there was no foreign language requirement even though it was a five year program. Hell, I had a hard enough time with the 3 Freshman English (composition) classes at Ohio State. They were notorious "flunk out" classes along with math and chemistry. Back then the only admission requirement was a high school degree, and acceptance was basically on a first come first served basis; they accepted 3 or 4 times the number of students that they actually wanted (or expected to graduate) and "flunked out" about 75% of them. Needless to say Ohio State's academic admission standards were a lot different back then.

I was at tOSU a bit later (70s) but I still remember the Engineering freshman orientation meeting where they said "Look to your right... now look to your left... those guys won't be here when you graduate."

2015 Texas signee says he’s been ‘admitted at Oklahoma University’

Reportedly Lamkin wasn't accepted by Texas admissions, etc.

The Red River Shootout rivalry has yet another delicious layer added to it, albeit unofficially.

Friday, Du’Vonta Lampkin announced via Twitter that he has “officially been admitted at Oklahoma University.” The fact that it’s the University of Oklahoma notwithstanding, his mother subsequently confirmed the admittance news, even as the football program has yet to publicly address the development.

The twist with this situation, of course, is that Lampkin was a signee as part of Texas’ 2015 recruiting class, but couldn’t enroll at UT because of a foreign language requirement. Charlie Strong, though, wouldn’t give Lampkin a release from his scholarship — the UT head coach “doesn’t want to set [the] precedent that recruits can fail [a] course and go elsewhere” — leading Lampkin to appeal the decision last month.

Just what Lampkin’s status for the upcoming season with the Sooners will be remains unknown — he can’t officially speak to OU coaches because of the UT National Letter of Intent he signed in February — although it appears that, when all of the technical dust settles, Lampkin may very well be eligible to play in 2015.
