Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Huge win for Purdue

Purdue's football coach has a seven-year contract worth $29 million in guaranteed income through 2024 after leading the Boilermakers to a 7-6 record in his first season
Base salary/Supplement Stipend (guaranteed income)
2018: $3.8 million
2019: $3.9 million
2020: $4 million
2021: $4.1 million
2022: $4.3 million
2023: $4.4 million
2024: $4.5 million

I'll say Purdue/B1G is a better job than Louisville/ACC. In addition, I doubt that the Louisville AD has the cash to pay much more than Brohm's under contract for at Purdue; especially since 1) they owe Petrino and Pitino (if he wins his lawsuit) money and 2) they cut off their big money doner's (i.e. Papa John) sponsership due to his offensive use of the N-word.

Plus it's going up

Keeping Brohm at Purdue should help the profile of the B1G over the next few years.

I'm hoping he has more of the wins like Mizzou last year and BC this year, and no more losses to MAC teams like Eastern *ichigan.

I understand the hype around Brohm, and he's done well cleaning up Hazell's disaster. That said, he went 7-6 last year and many expected his team to take the next step this year which they did not (OSU game aside). He's a little over hyped in my book

Back to back bowls with that roster is pretty remarkable. They cratered under the Hope/Hazell transition. He's on the cusp of signing a fringe Top 25 class that ranks behind only OSU, UM, PSU, and Nebraska in the conference by 247 consensus, and done that despite constant rumors he gone after this year. If he can infuse real talent into that program along with their facilities upgrades, he could claw his way past Wisconsin and Iowa as a consistent contender in the West. If he stays and can stack some recruiting classes (admittedly, both are big IFs), Purdue could be a legitimate challenge out of the West under Brohm in two or three years.

Purdue and the B1G will benefit from Louisville being a dumpster fire of an athletic department in the short term. But Louisville will get past this in three or four years and Brohm will go home eventually; now just isn't the time.

It's freaking Purdue.

A winning season at Purdue is like a National Championship at tOSU.
