Coachtressel.com updated

Did anyone notice on the depth chart on that site that Hoobler is now on the same line as Schlegel as the starting MLB? (or is that in another thread and I am just too lazy to look for that thread?)

interesting the d go so few with the exception of whitner. looks like we reached most of our offensive goals, but fell short on d... check the stats of the week to see how things panned out.

personally i think the d is graded rather harshly, but thats me...

Defense has always been a forte of Tressel's teams. Defense wins championships. If being "harsh" this early in the season inspires them to play better than opening week shutouts (1st string), I'm all for it.

the 5 yrd average on pass plays struck me as being a little unrealistic. you expect your guys to make the takle on the spot and shouldn't reward anything less. but most teams average pass play isn't 5 yards. i think this should be more in the 7 yrd range. the 20 yrds on pass plays... does that mean we will never again play deep zones on pass plays when we're up big late in the 4th? sorry but i have a hard time holding a scheme against the players.

13 points or less... eh, ill take that one. holding a team to 30% efficiency on 3rd down? thats pretty tough but ok. i assume the redzone one is holding a team to 40% success on scoring a td in the redzone. that one is pretty reasonable.

a few more categories could be added:

1. ala offense - Zero Drive continueing Penalties
2. something about winning first downs like the offense has or forcing 3 and outs/holding the o to so many yards on a certain % of drives. (winning field position)
3. ala offense - no more than 1 Drive of 8 or More Plays
4. quick posession change stop. ie we turn it over and force a punt/turnover (allow no score)

No, this time its real, not an illusion. Its reinforced by the bracketing of their respective ages on the same line.

Personally, I thought Hoobler had some good moments in the Spring Game. Evidently he has kept the coaches eyes on the good things his aggresssive play can bring. Good for him.:osu:

I think they got pretty close to holding Miami in that range. They did give up 250 yards passing, on 44 attempts, average per attempt 5.7 yards. My guess is that's where the 5-yd metric comes into play. If only they could have broken up a couple of deeper patterns late.

or count sacks as passes because more often than not thats what they are supposed to be. i never understood why that counted against run totals anyway *shrug*.
