Aggies Rally To Beat Ohio State

COLLEGE STATION, Texas?A three-run eighth inning broke a tie ballgame and lifted Texas A&M to an 8-5, come-from-behind victory over Ohio State Friday night before 5,051 fans at the Domino?s Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic at Olsen Field.
The victory was the Aggies? fourth in a row as they improved to 5-2 on the year. Ohio State fell to 3-1.
?Tonight was the kind of effort I?ve been looking for from our team since the start of the season, that kind of toughness,? A&M coach Rob Childress said. ?Down 5-1, it would have been easy to roll over and go through the motions, but what you saw tonight is the kind of team we expect to have day in and day out. I?m not saying we?re going to win every game, but that?s the toughness I expect out of our team on a daily basis. I am proud of the way we competed tonight.?

Tech rally try falls short against Ohio State
News-Star news services

COLLEGE STATION, Texas ? Ohio State pitchers struck out 13 batters and its defense made several fantastic plays as it built an early lead and held off a late Louisiana Tech rally for a 7-4 victory on Saturday at the Domino?s Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic at Olsen Field. ?We?ve got to do a better job of two-strike hitting,? Tech coach Wade Simoneaux said. ?Out of those 13 strikeouts, we?ve got to put eight or nine of those balls in play to have a chance. I was proud of our bunt coverages and situational defense. We executed that to a ?T.? If we don?t execute those well, the score gets out of hand.?

Zero earned runs given up yesterday. If the defense ever learns how to field a ball this team will go far. They're hitting remarkably well and DeLucia has been out since the 2nd game. This team has been a pleasant surprise.

Won one game and were competitive in the other two. A successful weekend, I think.

Yes we we played pretty well, but I think we should expect more from our baseball program than just being competitive. In both the A&M and Arkansas games our pitching gave up decent leads(including 4 HR's against Arkansas) and lost the game. Although it could have been much worse, I don't consider going 1-2 and losing two games we were in good position to win a successful weekend.

But on the bright side the hitting was there and the fielding was very good. I don't think we had any errors in the A&M or the Arkansas games. Also we should be able to sweep our next 3 opponents in the upcoming series. Go Bucks!
