Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

My five favorite/least favorite--

Best:

I've always liked the Sabres sweaters, aside from the ones they wore in the late nineties with the black/red/silver scheme.

The Canucks seems to be polarizing, but I've always liked this design.

Can't stand the Blackhawks, but can't argue with this classic design. Home and away are very sharp.

Really like this design. It just screams "Minnesota" to me.

Like the Yankees pinstripes, and the Cowboys Star, it's a classic, understated design that is almost perfect.

Least favorite:

Gross.

Teal is always a bad idea.

adiunveiltoolkit_tbl_hero_square.vadapt.767.high.71.jpg

BORING.

An improvement from their previous mess, but the gigantic howling coyote doesn't do it for me. At all.

I've always despised that maroon/blue color scheme. Doesn't go together at all.

Incidentally, the CBJ alternate sweater is probably my favorite in all of hockey...

While I like the flag themed primaries, I wish they'd go with this design. I just think it's really sharp.
Cool, any other thoughts for the Fall season?

Statistically Speaking: NHL rookies to watch

Pierre-Luc Dubois, C, Columbus
– The third pick in the 2016 Draft, Dubois is a 6-foot-3 forward who can can play wing or centre and has offensive upside, though he was much more effective in 2015-2016 than he was early last season before getting traded and finishing the year with 59 points in 47 (regular season plus playoff) games for Blainville-Boisbriand in the QMJHL.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Josh Anderson – Ramblings of a Mad Man

Josh Anderson has been seen as a promising young player for the Columbus Blue Jackets for a few years now, yet now that he has begun to show the promise at the NHL level; it has created a situation that is undoubtedly destroying the relationship between the team and the player.

The Columbus Blue Jackets selected Josh Anderson in the 4th round of the 2012 NHL Draft, and at the time not many people paid much attention to him. He wasn’t expected to be a top prospect by any means. Jump five years later, coming off of his first complete season in the NHL and Anderson is looking for his first big NHL contract.

Days without news of an extension turned to weeks, then from weeks to months. Now it seems as if Anderson may never get his contract from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Anderson has turned into a solid player at the NHL level, and he’s only 23 years old. Yet it may be time to burn bridges with him and send him elsewhere.

This roster has changed, and that's a good thing

Embracing the lineup changes

usa_today_10304325.0.jpg

After franchise highs of 50 wins and 108 points, one could have forgiven the management and coaching staff of the Columbus Blue Jackets for resting on their laurels. Surely they would only tweak a few things, right?

Wrong! Instead we see an opening night lineup that has as many as 8 changes from the lineup that remained intact through the 16 game winning streak last season. This roster is younger, faster, and more skilled. As Torts keeps saying, last year’s season only lasted 10 extra days. Some change was necessary to stretch this season longer. Let's look at how each line and pairing has changed, and how that may help:

First Line
Artemi Panarin - Alexander Wennberg - Cam Atkinson

I have to keep reminding myself to not get TOO excited about this line. After all, the much ballyhooed Saad/Johansen/Foligno line failed to deliver in 2015. Still, it is no stretch to call this the most skilled line in CBJ history. Wennberg broke out with 46 assists last season, and now he is flanked by forwards who scored 31 (Panarin) and 35 (Cam) goals. This trio will stay together on the power play, with Foligno and Werenski.

The only drawback? This unit is TOO GOOD at passing. John Tortorella vented this week about the need for each player to shoot more when given the chance.
