Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

These guys just aren't that good on a night to night basis.

I think Panarin gets traded in January unless they are leading the division. Bobrovsky might get traded too.

I'm thinking it is actually: These guys just aren't that good ̶o̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶n̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶n̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶b̶a̶s̶i̶s̶.̶

They win just enough in spirts to get your hopes up for the next season and then disappoint. Through their history they really haven't been very good at drafting players (other than maybe Nash), signing free agents (they over pay disgruntled guys like Carter & Fedorov, etc.), making trades (they give up more than they get), keeping their decent players, and/or developing players; also, they haven't been very unlucky in coin flips/draws for a draft position and with injuries to key players. Maybe that's why we like them, they are like what the Chicago Cubs use to be, i.e. "the loveable losers".

FWIW,
Every NHL team’s Mount Rushmore

Columbus Blue Jackets

Sergei Bobrovsky – Perhaps the biggest no-brainer on this list. Two Vezina Trophies is enough to get at least some consideration for most Mount Rushmores. Because this is the Blue Jackets, Bobrovsky gets the lead spot on it.

Rick Nash – Yes, this is a pretty darn pathetic Mount Rushmore. But what do you expect from a team that’s only been around for 17 seasons? Nash’s departure from the Blue Jackets was less than ideal, but he’s still the franchise’s leader in most offensive categories.

Nick Foligno – Already ranks among the franchise leaders in just about every category. Also, a huge part of two Columbus Blue Jackets teams that made the postseason. The fact that Foligno’s one of the very few skaters to win an award is enough to get him a nod and a spot on this Mount Rushmore.

Fedor Tyutin – As I said, this is a very weak Mount Rushmore. That’s what tends to happen when you can make a strong case that Fedor Tyutin is the best defenseman in franchise history. Only Nash has played more games in a Blue Jackets sweater than him. Tyutin was a good soldier, putting forth some excellent efforts on some fairly bad teams.

I looked at the list of Blue Jackets to see if there was anybody else for Mount Rushmore: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/display_players.php?tmi=5316

I was surprised to see who the only player was that was on the team for 10 years (i.e. the most): Any guesses who he is?

Supposedly allegedly Bobrovsky has given the Blue Jackets a list of teams he would consider being trade destinations.

If I were Torts Korpi would get the start in most games from here on out. So much for team loyalty.

And if Panarin wants out, get him out of here too.

I think the team's up and down existence so far this season is a direct result of this uncertainty.
