True Madness Requires Significant Intelligence
We have had a few threads on cars and gas but I could not find one on the time you spend commuting.

I have stated a few times that I work about a mile from my home. Normally it is a five minute drive.

Thanks to Katrina and Rita the population in my area has swelled. The traffic has increased with the population.

I left work last night and it took me almost forty minutes to get home.
I feel as if I have moved from LA to L.A.

How about your time in the car / truck?
What do you do to pass the time?

1.5 miles one-way. It usually takes me five minutes from when I close the garage door to when I walk into my office. I always seem to leave the house when there are commercial breaks on the radio, so I never hear anything.

The longest commute I ever had was in grad school and was about 20 minutes one-way. The drive home was always bad if I did not get out before 4:00 PM. If it was later than that I would just keep working until 6:00 PM because the drive went from 20 minutes to 60 minutes during rush hour.

Used to have about 45 mins during rush hour but moved to a different suburb of Cape Town. Now I have about 20 minutes along the ocean with mountain on the other side and I open the sunroof and rock on. Sometimes I can stop and watch the whales but most of the time I just crank it up and enjoy the time alone. Life is great if you don't weaken and rust never sleeps!

It only takes me about 7-8 mins to get to work. I usually talk on my cell phone and eat double cheese burgers causing me to swirve in and out of my lane pissing everyone else off because of my bad driving habits.....

right now it's about 5 miles each way... about 10 minutes in the car. I usually listen to talk/sports radio. Sometimes it's the station I work at but I'm normally going in at about 3:00pm and that's when Dr. Laura is on and I can't stand the bitch so I'll flip over to the sports channel... Lately I've just been putting in a CD.

58 miles one way, approximately 1 hour, i have made it in as little as 53 minutes, but average is 1 hour.

thats 10 hours per week, 520 hours per year, 21.67 DAYS per year

No wonder you spend so much in gas!!

Man you seriously need to sell that gas hog. Get something smaller.

And don't give me that "I have a kid on the way so I need it" bullshit.

I live 3 blocks from work; I ride my bike or walk almost every day. Go home for lunch every day; in fact, just got back. Leftover Pizza Hut. Con Air is on TV right now, as is the best of Chris Farley SNL.
