Numerous places are offering free lamination of the covid vaccination card after the 2nd shot

When I got my 2nd shot they specifically said 'do not get this laminated because there could always be the need for addl booster shots'

If everyone could please just keep getting their shots, I would really appreciate it. I'd like to make a trip back up to Ohio this year and have a somewhat normal visit to Cedar Point and Kings Island, plus maybe seeing a Crew game in the new stadium. It's possible if everyone just gets their damn shot.

We were looking at the possibility of losing masks for the most part in Orange County around June if we could hit at least 50% vaccinated, but demand has fallen off a cliff (as it has most everywhere) and it's looking more likely masks will be with us in full through most of the summer.

Even the most seriously ill, those on ventilators, are having the amount of oxygen in their blood capped at 94 per cent. Normal levels are 95 per cent. Even being admitted is no guarantee they'll be treated. Families are being forced to bring in their own food, medicines and oxygen. There are fights on the streets as relatives desperately battle for any supplies... The doctors and nurses say they haven't witnessed an emergency on this scale in their lifetimes. Some are working three or four shifts in a row as colleagues increasingly contract the virus themselves. They are exhausted. On one ward, they had been making their rounds once an hour to check up on everyone. Now, because of the sheer numbers, that's only happening once or twice a day. The patient care is a shambles. There are huge queues outside the gates as people, some desperately ill, await Covid tests. To be admitted, you need a test to prove you are positive. But the laboratories are overwhelmed.

Yes, sadly, I think that a lot of people were expecting that India was going to be a significant hot spot. Frankly, if there’s a surprise here, it’s more that it took as long as it did. When they had their first outbreaks I distinctly remember thinking about how bad it could get for them.

There’s a young woman on my team who was hoping to go home (to India) this summer for an extended visit with family. I’m pretty sure that’s off now... I can’t even imagine how hopeless she must feel being separated, at that distance, from family during this time. Mind you, it sucked being in IL while my parents were in Ohio, but if push came to shove, I could have gotten back home at any time. It was a choice that I made to not be the one to increase their risk. Perhaps it being my choice made it easier. Having no choice in the matter, I’m sure, would have made it 1000x worse.
