Coronavirus (COVID-19) is too exciting for adults to discuss (CLOSED)

Covid minor is often talked about as coming or possible if we'd let it try. It's been that way for most of two years.

I think his prediction that a catastrophe is coming is a big assumption meant to sensationalize. I think it's pretty clear that waiting around to see what happens (without vaccinating) is absolutely asking for a disaster, but his hypothetical may not come.

frankly the catastrophe is already here. Foremost in the mental health area and just overall stability of all work forces, not just health care. And the inconsistent messaging is a huge part of that, because while there is tribalism, there's also a much larger contingent of people trying that can't possibly get this figured out.

Most of that article was agreeing with you loudly. Get vaccinated, accept that this can't be stopped, and let's head towards the endemic. But that requires some levity and grace from both extremes.

And it requires leadership to demonstrate humility, grace and wisdom, which includes admitting where our blind spots are. You can't pretend it's nothing, you can't shame people into compliance, you can't pretend you have all of the answers (even if you do, they're suddenly wrong in 1-3 months).

Yes, the catastrophe is already here.

And so are the miracles, the vaccines and the treatments. So, to just toss that aside, he get's into "Oh fuck, what if those don't work anymore" - its intentional and despicable.

I remain baffled at the anti-vax crowd.

I just don't get the anti-vaxxers.

The majority of the unvaccinated aren't "anti-vaxxers." That's social media labeling/branding/bullying bullshit. The demographics on vaccination rates couldn't be clearer. Fewer resources = fewer vaccinations. None of those people with fewer resources spend a second of their time blathering about anti-vaccination, etc.

I know two people who are anti-vax, both over 70, one lives in bumfuck Arizona the other Wyoming. The people I know that are unvaxed are from either Mexico or Guatemala

Okay, if you say so.

Perhaps I spend too much time on r/hermancainaward

Certainly plenty of dum dums in the world to entertain us.

Every major population center has amazing data by zip code on vaccination rates. 40% vaccination rates in the poorest (most populated) zip codes. 100% vaccination rates in the wealthiest zip codes. It's enlightening.

Very early in the game but sure sounds like SCOTUS had their minds made up before this mandate case started. Sounds like just going thru the motion and mandate stays

Makes me wonder if this is actually normal... that SCOTUS has it's mind made up before most or all cases...

Sounds like the 'mandate' authority will be jugular.. in respect to the pandemic data/cases
whereas part of the struggle for the other side who wants to interject the 'BUT... you're mandating something whose effectiveness is questionable'

oh well.. no dog in the fight... time to get the popcorn

Becoming amusing because now the disputes on what data is correct.. what source is correct.. I do have a dog in that fight
