Daniel "Boobie" Gibson (official thread)

Big Papa

Urban!!!!
It's time for Boobie to get his own thread. He is quickly becoming a Cavalier favorite and has played a HUGE role in getting this team to where it is now.

Do you think it is too late to get a petition going to get him starting over Larry Hughes? He continues to shoot the ball beautifully and he plays hard on defense. Larry brings nothing to this team offensively right now. We have to get Boobie more minutes.

Hmmmm Boobie... What I look forward to is all the girls wearing "Boobie" shirts next year.

Speaking of next year. I think starting Gibson in the finals won't happen cuz we are too comfortable with our current starting 5. But look out next year. Gibson HAS to start next year. And with Sasha being a restricted Free Agent I can easily see him being traded to make room for Gibson to start and to allow a healthy Shannon Brown to step into the rotation.

Not to divert from the topic of the thread, but about Sasha... I love Sasha's game. He's only 23 and he grew right before our eyes this year. I honestly beleive that Sasha will evolve into the Cavs second option to Lebron, and he is playing much better defense this year. I think we would be better off with Sasha on our team (unless we are getting great value in return) because I feel that if he leaves he will become a top scorer on this league on another team. But I like Boobie too

Gibson isn't a shot in the dark for Cavs

Praised by some as a `pure shooter,' `Boobie' stirs buzz, but it's not shock

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - There have been nights when Daniel ``Boobie'' Gibson shot the lights out. And when he didn't, chances are he came home and shot with the lights out.
His mother, Cheryl Gibson, recalls many such evenings when Gibson played AAU basketball or at Jones High School in Houston, which the McDonald's All-American led to a 31-5 record and the 2004 state 4-A title, its first since 1965. When a game didn't go to his liking, he would change clothes the minute he hit the front door, then head to the hoop in the backyard.
``It would be just him and the dog,'' she said. ``I'd say, `You can't see,' and he'd say, `Mom, the porch light's on.' ''

I think in 3 years a lineup of Boobie, Sasha, Lebron, Drew, and Varejao will be awesome.

I know some might think I am crazy, but with a young kid like this that was playing so well in his role off the bench, I don't think that you throw him into the starting lineup, especially in the finals...You can only imagine the pressure it put on him, I mean look at how poorly he shot the ball...

I would of started Snow, of course I would of played Boobie about 35 minutes, but it is just the principle of he had become accustomed to coming off the bench, and putting him in the starting lineup hurt him some...

Either way Boobie is goign to be a great player, he is fearless, and he could be a 18 pts/game scorer in a couple years...He plays very well with LBJ...IMO next year we are going to need to get LBJ more time on the bench, or he is just going to wear down, and that time will be Boobie's and Sasha's time to shine...
