Andrew Dys, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports former NFL CB Derek Ross was sentenced to four years in prison in Texas Tuesday, May 16, according to prosecutors and court records. Ross pleaded guilty to jumping bail after a drug arrest last year, prosecutors said. Ross still faces drug trafficking charges in South Carolina that could get him as much as 30 years in prison if he's convicted. Ross will serve his sentence in the Texas Department of Corrections, said Jennifer Green of the Harris County District Clerk Office.

This is a shame...not only did he shine his junior year at tOSU but he had a phenomenal rookie year in the NFL as well. Crap.

The problem Ross had according to Parcells was that Ross played street ball. Which from what I understand is that he freelanced way to often. Great athlete. Too bad he has a two cent head.

By the way, does anyone else remember the trouble Ross got into prior to coming to OSU. It had something to do with a moving car in Rockville, SC.

In Rock Hill, he was arrested for failing to pull over for police and then again for driving with a suspended license.

Grad, if I remember correctly, he and an accomplice tried to run away on foot while the car was still moving. The car I guess ended up in someone's front yard. Cooper had him come to Columbus shortly there after so somebody could baby sit his ass. Am I correct?

March 21, 2001--Cornerback Derek Ross is arrested on charges of driving without a license and providing false information to police, giving an incorrect name when pulled over for speeding. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He is suspended from Ohio State's 2001 spring practices, then played most of the 2001 season, leading the Big Ten in interceptions and earning second-team all-conference honors. Left team to make himself available for the NFL draft a year early.

Something along those lines...Derek Ross never made smart decisions.

ROCK HILL, South Carolina (AP) -- A quarterback who signed a football scholarship to play at Ohio State has been arrested again -- two weeks after being charged with four misdemeanor offenses.
Northwestern High School's Derek Ross was arrested and jailed Thursday just after midnight for driving under suspension, third offense. He was released on $1,200 bond at 4:10 p.m. and was unable to participate in his 5 p.m. graduation ceremony.
Over Memorial Day weekend, Ross was arrested and charged with failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, driving under suspension, second offense, leaving the scene of an accident and damage to property.
Ross, the Trojans' star quarterback, was one of South Carolina's top recruiting prospects.
It's unclear if the charges will affect Ross' scholarship to Ohio State or whether the new charge will make matters worse for Ross in court. He could not be reached for comment.

Is this the idiot who abused his dog?

Damon Moore

In October 2001, while with Philadelphia, Moore was charged with abandoning a 3-month-old Rottweiler puppy in a soccer field near his New Jersey home. The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals traced the dog to Moore via a microchip that had been implanted in the dog.

Moore paid a fine, did community service and was banned from having a pet as a result of the incident.

Sucks to be Derek - as much as 30 yrs in the pen :yow1:
