DB Malcolm Jenkins (All B1G, All-American, Thorpe Award, All-Pro, 2x Super Bowl Champion)

i got harassed for defending the kid on BN. apparently his offer list isnt good enough for us. its funny that some folks think that osu needs to use an offer list to validate offering a kid, when in actuality, other teams should be using an osu offer for that purpose.

the kid got an offer from every camp he attended, to me that says enough. neither rivals no insiders has film on him, that is why he doesnt have that extra star next to his name that some people need.

I think our staff does an outstanding job evaluating talent. Jenkins camped here and his performance was impressive enough to earn him a scholie. That should be enough for Buckeye fans. Winning a NC should be enough for Buckeye fans. Sadly, it's not.
Two things that I think we can figure out from all this:

1. If you want an OSU offer...go to camp. Not going to camp as some form of "protest" seems to be completely fruitless (IIRC, Harrison and Cadogen did not attend OSU camp).

2. At BN, they only like players with those other big-time offers. That implies that they believe that Coker, Carroll, Stoops, etc. (and their staffs) are better evaluators of talent than Tressel et al. I look at the young talent on our team (i.e. those recruited by Tressel), and I think they stack up with the young talent on any other team in the country. Somehow, I think I'll trust JT's opinion over the posters at BN.

Who was the last DB from Jersey? I'm drawing a blank.

Welcome aboard, Malcom. You're going to be a big part of something special. I have a lot of faith in this guy -- he's big, fast, and looks to have great ball skills. Who gives a damn about his star rating? That's why I'm down with this place a bit more than anywhere else, we're HAPPY to get a kid that sounds like he could be a great one!

Welcome!

Welcome Aboard Malcom Jenkins! This sucks for only one reason! now on Saturdays when he makes a play I'll probably be yelling Alright Mike (think'n of our last Jenkins) I'm excited about this kid! I think we got someone that is going to step in a be a ball player! he's 6'0 180 pounds and by next year when he comes into columbus this time of year I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 190. So do you guys think he red shirts? I think he does just to add some more size! None the less I'm excited and I can't wait to hear more about Malcom!

Hard to say for sure without seeing him in action but you have to figure he does with the Underwoods, Youboty, Ginn, Lane, and O'Neal on the roster, not to mention anyone else we may land in this class.

Durrrr.. can we just say I've blocked him out of my memory, and that's why I forgot, not that I'm dumb? Ok? Good. :)

That works for me

Welcome aboard, Malcolm!

As far as Jenkins vs. Harrison - Malcolm is 6'0", Brandon is 5'8". It's no secret that the Bucks' staff likes big corners, and well they should. Even the fastest, most athletic 5'8" CB will have problems covering the new wave of big receivers (6'3" +) which are the current vogue in college football.

Hey, on Sundays, Antoine Winfield seems to do just fine! :)

LJB's point, however, is valid. It's a rare 5'8" CB who can keep up physically with the big receivers. Just wanted to give some props to a former Buckeye who's doing it.

I like this one a lot for two reasons:

1. I trust in Tress. I don't care if Larry Coker or Mack Brown knows the kid. I trust in Tress.

2. It shows that Coach Hazel's arrival is digging us into the East Coast talent pool. On another post, I included a map showing where the perennial powers' recruiting bases are. There is nobody between Columbus and the East Coast but PSU, and tOSU should capitalize on their current weakness. Half the high school kids in the USA live in those states and with good hard work we can own them.

We're already getting stronger in Pennsylvania. It now looks like tOSU can move into New York, New Jersey, Maryland/DC and Massachusetts.

Nice job Coach T and Coach Hazel. Welcome aboard Malcolm. Now let's go get Doug Worthington, Kade Weston, Rico McCoy and Justin King.

Winfield does do a great job in the NFL, but I think we all remember him going step for step with plaxico burress in '98, only to get beat for a jump ball.

Duane Long over on BN has said a few times that Snyder wants to go to more bump and run coverage with the db's. you are going to need some bigger horses to do that.
