DB Najee Murray (Montreal Alouettes)

Anybody heard what his roll will be with the Buckeyes? Corner or Safety? I prefer him at the safety position myself but that is just because I want to see him hit people.

I haven't heard for certain, but most seem to think he could be a true Corner. Plus, it seems we don't have a lot of depth there compared to Safety.

Najee Murray
5-11, 172 pounds
Defensive back
Steubenville (Ohio) HS

Q. Could you talk about what it means to be selected to play in one of the most prestigious all-star games in the country?

Murray: ?It was an honor being selected here out of all of the great athletes here in Ohio. It just means a lot to me.?

Q. You?re going to be on the same team with Warren Ball and Taylor Decker. Will it be neat to kind of get to know those guys before you get into Ohio State?

Murray: ?Yeah, I already knew Warren a little bit, and it will be nice to know Decker, just to get a start before we go to Ohio State.?

Q. Have you played in any other all-star games?

Murray: ?I haven?t but I?ll be playing the Big 33.?

Q. They let you know you?re going to be in that?

Murray: ?Yes.?

Q. That?s kind of neat thing, too, to be in Ohio vs. Pennsylvania.

Murray: ?Yeah, it is. It?s a great honor to be in that game, too.?

Q. And you?re on the border over there, too.

Murray: ?Yeah, I?m 30 minutes away from PA.?

Najee shut down every receiver at the Ohio State camp and Penn State camp last summer. Defensive Back MVP at the Penn State camp. Najee will be a cornerback.

IIRC, Murray earned his offer. I think he could be the sleeper of this class. Steubenville is far enough the beaten track their players are sometimes overlooked.

From the first page of this thread:

i get the same feeling from watching a najee murray video as i got from watching john simon's high school video. i can't give an ohio state commitment higher praise.

najee's senior video. his recent 3-star (scout) qualification is a joke. heck, being a 4-star severely underrates him. this kid is an absolute monster. we're getting a truly great player.

najee is just a football player. plug and play. win.

to be sure, najee's last step isn't toward the sidelines. murray is the type of player meyer goes to war with.

Great to see so many knowledgable people give credit to Najee for this honor. His family, the coaching staff at Big Red, and Najee should all be proud of his committment.

He reminds me a lot of Collaros. Under the radar, but a true leader on a great football team. If he continues to mature as a player, a lot of folks are going to look back and say that they missed out on him.

I know he projects as a cornerback, but could he be the "Harvin"-type player that Meyer is looking for?

He's not that under the radar. And the answer to your question is, NO. Corner all the way and hopefully he meets expectations.

Najee Murray (Steubenville, Ohio State) kick-started the Ohio offense in the third quarter when he latched onto a scoring pass from O'Connor that covered 85 yards with 4:35 left in the third quarter.

"That was the play that got us started," said Murray, who played primarily defensive back. "I told them I could play some slot. Tyler threw it up there for me. I had to make a little adjustment on it in the air, but I came down with it and went all the way."
