DB Tyreke Johnson (transfer to Nebraska)

Why? As far as I know he didn't do anything to disgrace or even trash Ohio State. 2021 would have been his 4th year at Ohio State and there were questions if he would even crack the 2 deep line up. For what ever reason(s) he just hadn't lived up to his 5 star rating. Maybe he will benefit from a new start at Corn. Anyway, I wish him well.

The comment was to delete a new thread started about Tyreke. BP doesn’t delete threads for transfers.

Geeeez... sorry. My statement was to imply that the post from the original thread should be put in the player's thread in the alumni section and the original snowflake thread should be deleted.

I am going to guess that you knew what I was saying and have nothing better to do than swing your big elitist p*ick. :slappy:

I can't off the top of my head think of any 5 star the Huskers have had on our roster. Tyreke should be a great addition to what has been a porous defense for a decade now.

What are your guys' thoughts on him? How much & how well has he played? Do you think he can help us?

We were all excited for Tyreke when he committed, thought he would be the next in line as an elite CB. For whatever reason, it never matriculated and he never saw the field. From everything I have read, nothing makes me think it was effort, just seemed like it never clicked. Hope he finds his game at Nebraska, I will always root for a Buckeye that gave it his best shake here and I think that's the case (at least it seems.

If you look at his original recruiting profiles, he was rated as a 5-star safety. Part of the reason he chose Ohio State is a chance to play CB.

Last year’s secondary was decimated by injury and graduation for the Buckeyes.

The starting CB went down with a season ending injury against Penn State and Johnson got his shot the next week with 50 snaps at CB against Rutgers. He had 18 snaps at CB in the final five games of the season combined, so you can guess how that performance went.

12 games played in total, 8 career tackles.
In addition to the above snap counts in 2020, he never really even made a splash on special teams, which indicates to me it wasn’t just an issue of trying to figure out how to play CB.

Maybe he can put it all together at Nebraska, but the emphasis on “party” in his announcement makes me think that might be an uphill climb.

I hope he does well for you and finds his way, except against Ohio State.
