DB Tyvis Powell (National Champion)

SIGN ME UP. Ever wanted to be like Tyvis Powell? Now's your chance!

Sign me the hell up. I sincerely doubt my adult-sized self is who this program would be intended for, but rules are made to be broken.

I'd love everything about a mentorship program with one of the most delightful Ohio State football players I've ever come across in my life.

“I’m extremely excited to be able to play football again,” Powell told Lettermen Row. “Obviously I missed all of last year with no NFL opportunities and the whole pandemic going on. I plan on stepping out of my shell with this opportunity and becoming a leader and making those big-time plays. Mostly I’m looking forward to having fun and winning — because winning is fun.”

Gotta bump this thread. Tyvis is working for 97.1 The Fan. He’s calling high school games and he’s also on the early pre-game show for Buckeye games. He knows the game, loves the game, and has a good sense of humor. He’s good at both analysis and occasional wisecrackery. He’s new to broadcasting but so far I’m really enjoying his work.

I wish he’d get into coaching. He’s smart, experienced and with his personality would be an electric recruiter.

Tyvis took over Josh Perry’s old job. I’ve posted a little bit about this on the recruiting board. But last night Tyvis was calling the Olentangy - Reynoldsburg game. Josh attended Olentangy. At some point Tyvis’ broadcasting partner said something complimentary of Perry playing running back for Olentangy. Tyvis said something to the effect of, ‘If Josh was a great running back then I was a great wide receiver.’ I got a kick out of that.

Btw, I also really enjoy Josh Perry’s work. Smartest LB on local radio. (Sorry, Bobby and James.)
