DE Jacolbe Cowan (transfer to North Carolina)

First Black Stripe removal of 2021 season... congrats

Jacolbe Cowan, a defensive lineman from North Carolina, is the only true freshman who has a black stripe on his helmet. He appears to be dealing with an injury, though, since he hasn't dressed for games.

Or the Last Black Stripe removed from the 2020 season; if it was an injury problem, hope he's 100% now. Let's push the reset button for him (in 2021); he still has 4 years of eligibility and he does come with a pretty impressive resume:

• Rated as a four-star prospect by every major scouting service.
• A top 150 recruit nationally.
• The nation’s No. 15-ranked defensive tackle by 247Sports.
• Projects as a defensive end.
• Had 72 Tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10 Sacks, 20 QB Hurries, 4 Forced Fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 Touchdown in 2018 (Junior Year)
• Had 57 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 37 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception in 2019 (Senior Year)
• Earned All-conference, All-state and All-America honors.
• Helped Providence Day and head coach Adam Hastings win the NCISAA State Championship in 2019.
• Played both Defensive End and Tight End at Providence Day.
• Played in the ESPN Under Armour All-American Game.
• A two-sport athlete who also played basketball
• Nike Opening Finals
• Greater Charlotte Defensive Lineman of the year

From around the time he committed:

“I definitely wanna chase some records and break some records that have been held by a lot of the greats that have come before me,” Cowan said. “I think if I (produce as a freshman), it’ll give me a lot of momentum going into my sophomore year. Hopefully I can just keep the ball rolling and at the end accomplish my goals.

??? Okay... he's got a ton of room to grow considering he's the last member of his class to lose his black stripe.

Rooting for him but I won't lie the deck is not stacked in his favor.

Like I say to all of the transfers, best luck to you so dont transfer up north.

The talent is getting stacked again and the new defense is going to produce more transfers due to less available playing time. It's going to happen everywhere, just wait til A&M starts their exodus.
