DE Kenny Hayes (transfer to Toledo)

Rivals $

10/20

Performance Breakdown: Kenny Hayes...size is impressive and passes the look test...has good speed and motor...has to work on technique but Snow says he can easily see why OSU offered on 9/1.

I didn't realize that Kenny was visiting this weekend. I rushed the field after Barclay's field goal and I ran right by him - I loved the huge smile on his face as he watched everybody run onto the field.
:osu:

I think Kenny has been to most Ohio State games this year...Kid loves the buckeyes

DE KENNY HAYES, 6-5/240, TOLEDO (OHIO) WHITMER
KENNYHAYES10_22100.JPG
2011 CLASS
COMMITTED TO: Ohio State
PERFORMANCE: Recorded four tackles, including one for a loss as Whitmer's season concluded with a 34-13 loss to Canton McKinley.
STRENGTHS: Height, a big frame to build on, good athleticism and the excitement that comes from the fact that Hayes has not even begun to realize his potential. Hayes is a true 6-5 and he is a good athlete. He is skinny right now, but not to the point where you worry whether he can put on weight.
WEAKNESSES: Hayes is raw. He needs to improve his technique, especially how he takes on blocks and his pass-rushing moves. Nonetheless, he has a chance to be the best of the group of amazing underclassmen defensive ends in Ohio. - G.L.

Prep rivalry to take on collegiate twist
By RYAN AUTULLO

Whitmer's Kenny Hayes bleeds scarlet and gray.

And no, that is not a metaphor.

The story goes as follows. In seventh grade Hayes fell and injured himself while performing football drills with his father in the yard. In assessing the injury, Hayes noticed that his blood and the rocks that caused the bleeding formed to represent the color scheme of the university he would ultimately play for.

"He's been a lifelong Ohio State fan," Whitmer coach Joe Palka said. "He always envisioned himself as a Buckeye."

Ohio State: The Buckeyes have a pair of standout in-state defensive line prospects already in the fold. Steve Miller (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) is a prospect our scouts love. Also, Kenny Hayes (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) is a 6-foot-5, 240-pounder who is also full of potential. Great prospects on the defensive line are often the hardest to find, so this is a tremendous start.

Whitmer Football and Basketball Guys

Last week had or made the chance to watch Toledo Whitmer football players do their thing on the basketball court. And do their thing is just what they did. Most of you can guess, as long as it is of benefit in his growth as a football prospect, playing as many sports as possible is wonderful. In this day of specialization, high school coaches in any sport do not always agree with me. So what!

The Hayes boys from Whitmer are special guys. Excellent athletic skills with tremendous bodies. Oh my!! Junior Kenny, already with a verbal to Ohio State, plays hoops much the same way as he plays defensive end. Full speed and aggressive and uses his 6'5 - 230 frame to make room under the iron.(too much play by play on the tube).

Mark Porter is saying that Kenny is likely the new #1 prospect in the state of Ohio for the 2011 class.

This an excellent 2011 Ohio overview from BN's
DBC Jan. 19: Sorting Out 2011 Needs | Football Article

Funny how the blurb about the article is "Could OSU's wish list for 2011 include Doran Grant, Eilar Hardy and Kenny Hayes?"

It does makes sense I guess, that Kenny would be on our wish list, since he received and offer and is a current commit. I agree... :!

OV Review by Mike Parris...strengths include frame, wingspan, speed, tackling...will need to work on strength and size as well as technique...compares favorably to Ben Martin at this stage.
