DE Nick Bosa (Pro Bowl, All Pro, 2019 ROY, 2022 DPOY, San Francisco 49ers)

Not to derail this too much, but I agree with this even though it's a messy, messy solution. I'd rather the university give full scholarships and better facilities to lesser sports than worry about paying football/basketball player money.
I mean it's kind of silly to expect a player worth tens of millions of dollars to be happy risking his livelihood for a scholarship barely worth a 100k for a degree that he'll probably never use.

Right. I still think this whole mess can be solved by letting players make money off of their likeness and generally take money from whoever is offering.
You cannot be serious. The NCAA was formed precisely to prevent this sort of shit. You allow this, and you'll have about a dozen, if that, or so teams that will have all the talent and 120 shit teams. And before anyone says, "you mean like now?", I mean like to the nth degree...

He'll go down as one of the ultimate "what if" stories in school history. He looked like he was on his way to an all-time season. Damn shame

Far and away the worst part of it. Dude looked like the runaway best player in CFB at the beginning of the year. To only get to watch him play for 2.5 games is a god damn shame. Still one of the best DEs to ever play at OSU, and to say that after such limited playing time is a real testament to his ability.

EDIT: And I'll always be bitter about the TCU LT for tackling him and the refs who could've at least had the decency to call some holds in that game.

No alarms and no surprises. Wish him well. Heal up and get your money. Hell of a player and I firmly believe if it was only his decision, he’d be back out there.

It’s going to hurt not playing in a National Championship, but I’m sure he’ll get over it quickly once the dollars pile up a couple months later.

Great Buckeye, regardless. Gigantic shoes to fill.

There is the upside to recruiting 3 stars - you don't lose them the way other systems lose 4 and 5 stars. Can't blame Nick, but if I were a teammate I might have trouble accepting his decision.
Reminds me of something stupid NotreDameChief said once about how he'd rather have 4 years of Luke Harangody(sp) instead of 1 year of Greg Oden. I'm still taking Greg Oden every time I'm given that option.

(not saying that what you said is or isn't stupid....just that NDC is empirically stupid)

I still think Oden planned on staying at least one more year, but his personal docs told him is body was disintegrating and to grab that #1 pick money while he could.
