DE Sam Hubbard (All B1G, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I cannot imagine a 6'6" 225lb safety.. I would love it.. just can't imagine it

What would a 6'5" WR think when.. for the first time in his life.. he's going up against someone bigger than him...

Well, the closest we have to have that now is a 6'3 tyvis Powell, which isn't too bad. But a 6'6 225lb S is just insane. It'll be even more fun watching Sam guard TEs and also be able to cover some WRs in the slot. Such a tremendous athlete were getting.

It will be really interesting to see how Sam's career plays out. I don't think I've ever seen such a huge disparity in rankings for a player.

Scout has him as a 5* & the #33 player in the nation while Rivals sees him as a 3* & barely top 30 in Ohio (#29). 247 splits the difference at #10 in Ohio & borderline top 200 nationally.

#1 MLB and now the #2 OLB in this class. Just awesome.

And according to scout, also the #4 & 5 OLBs. Even more awesome

Muck, I agree. The rankings for Hubbard are very weird and inconsistent. I'm sure based on his size and his position in HS as well as where as analysts try and project him in college. Sam must be one of the most unique cases for analysts to predict because he's a 6'5 S, with the size and frame to possibly grow into a DE or also stay at LB, but he is ultra athletic.

There's a former Buckeye that Scout and Rivals were split on five years ago...

Let's hope Scout is right again

Dave Berk who covers the Cincy area for Scout said that Luke Keuchly played safety too when he was at St. X. It's the same kind of situation. Hubbard didn't really started playing football until JR yr and was actually set on going the lacrosse route until he got noticed. He will play LB at tOSU, and might be the best of the bunch.
