Can't wait to see NFL guys drool over him at the combine...Good luck Vern for being such a class person, and especially a buckeye!

BB73 should really start a vBet on how many reps he puts up at the combine - and if it is an unbeatable number.

I would love to see the 'Phins trade down to about 8 or 9 and pick up big Vern. If not they'll probably pick up Dorsey but I'd rather have Vern and the extra pick.

Good Luck Vern! No going to the AFC East if its not Miami! :pissed:

Congrats to the Big Guy on a great career here and best of luck to him at the next level. All along, I've felt Vern to be the least likely to return, and also the least to gain by staying. He's a pretty solid #8-#16 pick I'd say, and a great senior year probably wouldn't improve his stock that much. Again, best of luck, Vern!!

Good luck Vernon and I know this is selfish, but I hope he slips down to the Bengals 1st pick somhow  Thanks for the unselfish play and amazing motor...one of the very few to actually play during the NC game. The writing was on the wall with this one but I think he made a good decision and will tear it up in the NFL.

Out of all the juniors I would say big Vern is the least likely to stay. Not sure why but imo there is no doubt this guy is ready.

Called it and i'm going to go out on a limb and say he is going to be the only junior to leave early. Thanks for the memories Vern your amazing body(i'm not gay I swear) and great play(one armed tackles on RB's at full speed while he is getting blocked) will be forever etched in my memory.

Dispatch

Defensive coordinator Jim Heacock said he felt good for both.
"I am excited for Vernon, because he has been here four years (redshirted his first year). He had an outstanding season, and I think he was ready to make this jump," Heacock said.

Gholston figured he was making his family happy by taking the step up.
"I reached this conclusion through strategic meditation with my close family, coaches and teammates," Gholston said. "The decision to enter the 2008 NFL draft will best serve our interests and future.
"As a son and as a man, it is my duty to serve and support my family to the best of my abilities. My childhood dream was, and still is, to one day be fortunate enough to do just that. I feel that time has come."

COLUMBUS - Vernon Gholston, Ohio State's top defensive lineman, said yesterday he will forgo his senior year to enter the NFL draft, while the team's leading receiver and its top defensive back have decided to play one more season with the Buckeyes.
