Dennis Rodman (official thread)

Dennis Rodman: I'm in Hall of Fame
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Dennis Rodman said Friday night that he will be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Rodman says he was informed Thursday to be in Houston for Monday's announcement before the championship game of the NCAA tournament. He was among 12 finalists for the Hall of Fame this year along with players such as Jamaal Wilkes, Maurice Cheeks, Chris Mullin and Ralph Sampson. The induction ceremony is in August.
Rodman revealed the news during the
Chicago Bulls' 101-96 win over the Detroit Pistons, who retired his No. 10 jersey at halftime.
An emotional Rodman said
he isn't sure he deserves the Pistons' tribute.

Dennis Rodman starting topless a basketball team

Dennis Rodman is finally getting into coaching. Not at a small college, as an assistant or even at the high school level.

He's going to the topless level. Or actually, creating it. Via the NY Post:

Dennis Rodman is bouncing back into basketball ? this time as a coach for a topless women?s team he?s launching for Headquarters Gentlemen?s Club, the New York mammary mecca. The NBA bad boy dreamed up the team after hearing that rival strip joint Rick?s Cabaret had launched a league with former Atlanta Hawk Spud Webb, who runs the Texas Legends, an NBA Development League team. Rodman is even challenging Rick?s Cabaret?s topless team to a charity game.
?I don?t know too many men that don?t like a good-looking woman running up and down around the court,? Rodman told Page Six.
I don't know, that depends on what kind of offense they're running. Are we talking Seven Seconds or Less or walk-it-up style?

Oh Dennis

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lan...n-broke-extremely-sick-his-attorney-says.html

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman is "extremely sick," "broke" and is in no position to pay hefty child and spousal support payments, according to court documents.

Rodman is behind in his payments and faces a court hearing Tuesday in Orange. He faces up to 20 days in jail for failure to pay spousal and child support, according to an attorney for his ex-wife.

As of March 1, Rodman, 51, owed $808,935 in back child support for the 9- and 10-year-old children that he had with his third wife, Michelle Rodman, said her attorney, Jack Kayajanian, in court documents.

Rodman also owed $51,441 through March 1 in back spousal support, Kayajanian alleged in court documents.

Michelle Rodman, identified in court papers as a Costa Mesa resident, is also requesting attorneys' fees, according to the Daily Pilot.

Dennis Rodman's attorney, Linnea Willis, said in court documents that the former Laker is barely capable of paying for his living expenses, let alone the $5,000 he has for one child from another relationship, and the $4,500 monthly payment for spousal and child support to Michelle Rodman.

The attorneys who have represented him to date have worked pro bono, Willis said.

"Respondent Dennis Rodman is broke and cannot afford any additional fees," according to court documents filed on his behalf.

He is "extremely sick" and his marketability is diminishing with age and illness, according to court documents.

Rodman, who played on championship Chicago Bulls teams with Michael Jordan before coming to the Lakers, often led the NBA in rebounds. He has a long history with Newport Beach, whose police were called to his Seashore Drive home in West Newport 80 times during the eight years he lived there.

At the time his third wife filed for divorce, he listed his monthly expenses as more than $30,000, according to a 2004 article in the Los Angeles Times. Michelle Rodman listed her monthly expenses as $17,000.

Rodman sent on goodwill mission to North Korea

espn_rodman_d1_300.jpg

NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman joined North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for a Harlem Globetrotters game in Pyongyang on Thursday. One of the more weird decisions by Rodman, whose lifelong list of weird things is quite substantial, the two reportedly grew a bond during their time spent together. VICE media founder Shane Smith, who was traveling with Rodman to film part of a TV series, told the Associated Press that Un hoped the meeting would be a step in the right direction for the United States and North Korea despite Un's firm political stance of opposing the United States. "We knew that he's a big lover of basketball, especially the Bulls, and it was our intention going in that we would have a good will mission of something that's fun," Smith said. "A lot of times, things just are serious and everybody's so concerned with geopolitics that we forget just to be human beings."

Dennis Rodman to Sports Illustrated: I should be considered for Nobel Peace Prize

Screenshot2013-07-02at12.20_crop_north.jpg

The eccentric, uninhibited basketball Hall of Famer drew untold headlines this year when he accompanied HBO?s Vice and members of the Harlem Globetrotters on a trip to North Korea, one of the least-accessible countries to Americans and a place with one of the world?s worst records on human rights. Franz Lidz caught up with Rodman for the story behind the story, revealing the former Bulls star?s surreal experiences with North Korea?s new leadership, his plans for international diplomacy and peace, and, yes, his belief that he should be considered for a Nobel, an honor bestowed on the likes of Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Nelson Mandela, Elie Wiesel, Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King Jr.

Dennis Rodman has his own ?Bad Boy Vodka? line

90

At least now we know when Dennis Rodman wins the Nobel Peace Prize what drink he will celebrate with.

The NBA Hall of Fame player and eccentric has partnered with Premier Brands to develop Bad Boy Vodka. Yes, that is the Dennis Rodman branded vodka you have been waiting your whole life for. Because when you pick up a glass of quality vodka, does any other NBA player come to mind besides Dennis Rodman? No. Of course not.

??Bad Boy Vodka characterizes a tough and edgy, yet smooth and classic taste; a perfect representation of whom and what I am all about,? Rodman said in a released statement.

Sam Forencich, a long-time photographer with the NBA, clicked this photo of Rodman when the latter was with the Bulls. In Forencich’s words, it was surreal to watch the Hall of Famer sacrificing his body to snatch a point in the 1997 game against the Golden State Warriors. Capturing the five-time NBA champion flying was a high point in Forencich’s career.
