Speculation is Watson won't be traded before the deadline. Houston front office was put in an impossible situation, trying to get trade value for a franchise leader who can't play right now & has a huge contract. Hard to see it happening with just 2 days left.

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson won't face criminal charges in connection with sexual misconduct allegations

A grand jury has declined to indict Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson following a police investigation sparked by lawsuits filed by 22 women who have accused him of harassment and sexual assault.

The announcement on Friday came nearly a year after the first civil lawsuit was filed against Watson.

The district attorney's office in Harris County, Texas, presented evidence to the 12-person grand jury related to nine of the 10 criminal complaints filed against Watson last year. The grand jury, which does not require a unanimous vote, rejected all nine cases; prosecutors did not present the 10th. According to Johna Stallings, division chief of the adult sex crimes and human trafficking unit at the Harris County District Attorney's office, the criminal proceedings in Harris County against Watson have concluded.

The NFL, which is investigating Watson under its personal conduct policy, said in a statement Friday, "We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter."

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson completes first two sessions of depositions in lawsuit

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has completed his first two sessions of depositions as part of the 22 lawsuits filed against him, ESPN confirmed Friday.

His attorney, Rusty Hardin, previously told ESPN his client would assert his Fifth Amendment right to not incriminate himself during his testimony until the criminal investigation had concluded.

Hardin told ESPN in July that 10 women had filed complaints with Houston police about Watson. Eight of the women have also filed lawsuits against Watson with allegations ranging from sexual assault to harassment during massage sessions.

“We were told Deshaun Watson didn’t love the cold. We were told he saw an easier path in the NFC. We were told he wanted a big city, and that he wanted to stay close to his family,” Kinkhabwala tweeted. “Everything we were told was moot. Deshaun Watson picked the roster he liked best: the #Browns’.”

Of course, landing a record-breaking contract doesn’t hurt either. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Watson — who signed a four-year, $177.5 million contract before the 2020 season — will receive a fully guaranteed $230 million contract over five years. That’s $80 million more than the previous mark for a fully guaranteed contract at signing, which was $150 million.

None of the 21 women who have sued Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson of misconduct during massages have attached their names to the lawsuits. On Wednesday, 18 message therapists who have worked with Watson issued comments regarding his behavior during massage sessions.

This list of comments from 18 different women who provided massage therapy to Watson stands in stark contrast to the allegations, all of which have been made without names being named. The accounts represent, in our view, the first major step taken by Deshaun Watson and his lawyers to defend himself in the court of public opinion.

Of course, it’s possible that all 39 individuals (plus the woman who spoke to SI.com and has not sued) are telling the truth, and that Watson only acted inappropriately with the 19 who has sued him. With 18 massage therapists putting their names on accounts of their positive experiences with Watson, attorney Tony Buzbee may feel compelled to provide something more substantial and more specific as it relates to his 21 clients.
