Detroit Red Wings (Official Thread)

The CBJ always play Detroit tough, even if the scoreboard doesn't always show it.

Trashville isn't very good and Vancouver is a paper tiger again this year.

The West is WIDE open. If Holland can get another solid blueliner and a scoring forward to balance out the lines a bit more, the Wings will be right there even though they'll still have huge holes (Quincey) on defense.

or just get a LITTLE healthy.

Brunner to the rescue again. This time in a shootout, where he's 2-2 now. I think it was more a case of San Jose being a wounded animal than anything. Sharks have been downright abysmal recently & it showed again last night. All of there players seem to be struggling & Niemi, who's tied for fifth in the league in both GAA (1.88) & Save % (.933), is getting no help at all, thus why he's only gotten two wins in his last 10 appearances.

Going to be an extremely tough one at The Joe on Sunday against the 'Hawks (17-0-3), who are still yet to be held without a point this season, but at least they get Colorado & Edmonton at home on Tuesday & Thursday before the back-to-back against Columbus on Saturday & Sunday.

The next 6 games are:

vs. The Divealanche
Vs. Edmonton
@ Columbus
vs. Columbus
@ Calgary
@Edmonton

Basically that's the bottom of the western conference. The Wings have been playing better recently, but if they don't get 10 out of 12 points in that stretch, I have to think that long term this team might miss the playoffs entirely.

LA is coming on pretty strong now. Minnesota seems to have figured out it's issues as well, Trashville seems to be hanging around and Phoenix isn't going anywhere either. Granted I'm not sure of either Dallas or San Jose being any better than either Detroit, LA or Minny, but they are ahead of the Wings in the standings right at the moment.

Wow...win every single game? Pretty high expectations for a team that played great by the BEST team in the NHL by far. I would like to see them get 8-10 in those games. Theres 10 teams within 4 pts fighting for 5 spots. Stay in the tops five of those teams! thats it

That's what I said....if they can get 10 points in that stretch, they'll be in good shape I think.

Right after that is a brutal west coast swing against Vancouver, Phoenix and Anaheim, so they need to get the points against bad teams as much as possible.

Almost blew it at the end.....AGAIN. Something about the last two minutes of the third period that they just always find ways to give teams great opportunities to score. Whether it's 5-on-5, extra attacker on or bonehead plays, they just like to keep teams in it until the very end. Sure make you watch until the bitter end every game.

3-0 shutout of Edmonton :banger:

Jimmy has been exceptional of late, but here comes those pesky Blue Jackets for a home & away back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. Really need the maximum points in both games, because they only have one home game after Sunday until the last day of the month. Seven of the eight games after the back-to-back against Columbus will be on the road out west.
