Digital picture frames?

Anyone have any experience with these things? My parents have started the traveling phase of their lives now that the kids are out of the house and have accumulated tons of digital photos. I thought this might be a great Christmas gift.

Thanks for the input!

One caveat... these use Sony Memory Sticks.

I own one, and for the time being I sell them for a living. Pretty much all frames are SD compatible, but you can get on that is Memory Stick compatible. They are starting to make them look a lot nicer (looking more like a photo frame, less like a disposable piece of electronic crap) and with better screens.

Models with a significant amount of built-in memory are becoming more widely available as well, but since most models I've seen require you to transfer the jpegs via a memory card rather than allowing you to directly transfer from the computer via USB, it's probably just simpler to load what you need onto your memory card and not bother with internal memory on the frame.

My recommendation: Get a good frame that you like, without regard for the memory card format that your camera uses. Instead of possibly getting a crappy frame that is Memory Stick compatible, you can get a better frame that is SD compatible, and buy a dedicated SD card just for the frame. SD cards are so cheap now that this is really a better idea than restricting yourself to other formats. A decent-sized SD card and a memory card reader/writer (which you'll likely need to purchase anyway even if you stick with Memory Stick) should only run about $25-$30 total, and it'll give you a much wider variety of quality frames to choose from.

I like a couple of the new ones put out by a brand called SmartParts. I haven't really paid attention to brands though. I'm not sure the brand matters so much - I'd just go with one that passes the look and feel tests.
