46 reps, That's impresssive. This is from notes on this year's NFl draft:

"Isaac Sopoaga, (DT) University of Hawaii, gained huge attention at the NFL combine by benching 225-pounds 42 times. This was the most done at the combine since 2000."

"Igor Olshansky (Oregon) is the resident strong man in this year's draft after posting 43 reps in the 225-pound bench press." (this was after Sopoaga's effort).

I hope Mike, with that strength and speed can, translate those numbers into
on field success. He played well at times last year, but we all must remember that he hasn't been a de very long.

You'd have to think with his strenght he could out muscle some ot's and the ones that might be big (D. Morris), he should be able to use his speed.

I am so ready for Buckeye football. It's like 3 months of Christmas !!!!

Go Mike and Go Bucks !!!!

:oh: :io:

46 reps of 225 lbs, 550lbs max bench press, 4.51/40 & 4.49/40 during the summer at 272 lbs. His Dad indicated that Mike's playing weight will actually be around 265lbs or so, which should help his quickness, (not necessarily straight ahead speed, but short line quickness), and explosiveness off the line of scrimmage.

I'm hoping for a monster year from Mike... the guy deserves it.

Remember all of the Buckeyes are great kids. Most of the time you only know about 50% of what the real story is. The Buckeye family is tight and like a family a lot of what really goes on is not for public information. Most of the time these boys play with numerous injuries. Some you or I wouldn't even get out of bed with. It will have an effect on someones performance. These kids pour out there hearts every Saturday on the field. Win or Lose just support the TEAM. Remember they are giving their best for you. I think they deserve the best from their fans. Good luck to all the Buckeyes this season. I hope we have a great summer camp with no serious injuries. See you all at the Cincinnati game. GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buckdad57.
from bucknuts, thought i'd add this part as it is something that most of us dont even think about.

dav - I think that needs to be pointed out loud and often. It irritates me to see folks knocking players like Lydell, Fox, or even Fraser when they are playing hurt. Folks want to argue that football players 'play through pain'. But there are so many types of injuries that can both cause pain and limit performance - and by rule the coaches can't even tell us who is hurt anymore. Our entire OL the past two seasons played hurt a lot.

In particularly when a players performance drops, but the coaches continue to play them (indicating they are still working in practice) we ought to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I wonder if the coaches will consider playing Kudla more at DT and keeping Patterson more at DE. I'm not sure how Patterson's lateral mobility compares to Kudla, but he's already been mentioned as possibly playing some DE.
