Simon is indeed too slow for a DE in a 4-3 defense, but if he put on 15 to 20 pounds he is perfect DE for a 3-4 defense. In the 3-4 you need a DE who is tall (long arms) and can keep the OT from getting to his body. A DE's job in the 3-4 is to stop the run (something Simon is very good at) and eat up blockers (see increase in weight).

It may take a year or two, but I could really see Simon having a solid NFL career as a 3-4 DE. He is probably too tall to play DT in the 4-3, but his height is perfect for the 3-4 DE.

Think of it this way, he's OSU's leading KR ever yardage wise... doing so mostly with defenses that rarely surrendered points and therefore received kickoff's...

Better way to look at it, this kid was good enough for our coaches to keep Ginn on the sidelines during KR's!

I would be too...if he was drafted. He wasn't...he was just a free agent pickup. Almost every OSU player that leaves here as a senior gets invited to a camp.
