DLL issue w/newly installed USB printer

JoJaBuckeye

First we take Michigan--then the whole world!
I did a search for DLL, USB, and printer and did not find a forum that addresses my problem.

Installed a Lexmark x8350 all-in-one printer today, my first printer with a USB interface. Installation went ok, and the on-unit functions work fine. But when I attempt to print anything from the PC, I get this error message:

PROP BITMAP DLL NOT LOADED

Been on the net--found nothing useful yet. Sent Lexmark an email--waiting for response. Any help would be appreciated.

totally remove all components and reinstall. Pay attention to detail.

Do you have a software CD or is it one of those that stores the software on-board the printer??

You may want to try to uninstall/reinstall everything anyway....

You mean the external CD/R should be removed, too? (That is the only thing that was connected at the time I installed the PC, and it was not turned on at the time. The instructions did not mention removing all other devices.)

It came with a CD, and loading the driver did not go smoothly. So I uninstalled it, downloaded an internet driver, and reinstalled. The second time the installation went without a hitch, but still have the same message.

Actually, I have noticed in my last few print attempts (just seconds ago) that I no longer get this error message. However, all that happens when I click print is the printer icon flashes on for a second then goes away...and nothing prints. :(

some hardware items require that you do not hook up the item until after you install the software and /or restart. If that external was part of the printer package then it might be. if it wasn't and was already installed then no

I wonder how many print jobs you have queued up right now....

If there are 6 or 7 it may not give you the error messages because the jobs previous to them are still attempting to go....

you need to open the device manager and see if the printer is installed or if there is a problem

The device manager "sees" the printer and gives no indication of a conflict.

Also found there was no bitmap.dll anywhere on my PC, so downloaded one and copied it to every Lexmark directory that contained .dlls. Still no luck, the error message is back, and sending a print job causes the print icon to appear for about 2 seconds. :( :(

That dll has to be installed into either systems or systems 32 in windows in C drive. copy and paste it into both.
also find the troubleshooting guide in the program and see if you can print a test page.
this may sound funny but is there a hangup to the copy paper in the unit?
Also call the store where you got the printer from and see if they can help, maybe the unit itself is bad.
You can also go into the control panel and click on printers , find yours and look at the properties and you might be able to run tests from there..
What OS do you have ? XP?
