The only thing that bugs me is that this whole debate is making us look like a bunch of metrosexuals... This shit even made front page ESPN news.

This debate is making us a laughing stock in the fan community. Oregon didn't complain this much. Geez people...

I understand what you said... when it comes to obsession over fashion and looking fabulous, I see little difference in the stereotype. At what point can a heterosexual fan object to jersey changes? Piping? Shoulder patches? alternate helmets and space age coloring? (oregon). We'll have to disagree about the pants. (edit: yes I do realize we had similar colored pants before... I just think the gray should be distinguished from the white, like our helmets).

i voted no because while i like the function of the new uni, teh appearance is not acceptable as something that will be worn for 3+ years. being "historically accurate" doesn't necissarily mean it isn't butt ugly.

i have some issue, not enough to make a federal case over, with the uni in the short term. but so long as this change is merely an evaluation of the fabric and we can expect tweeks to the appearance in the future to conform to what we have all come to acknoledge as the look of our team, im all for the new uni's.

This vote is much closer than I thought it would wind up

after reading the way the poll was worded, i expected it to be rather close. imo the poll wasn't that clear as to what it was looking for, no offense muck. i voted no, but i very easily could have voted yes or undecided. do i like the new uniforms? well... sort of. i like its functionality alot. anything that helps our guys win games im all for. do i like the design? no, but the design isn't freakishly horrible if it is going to be revisited at the end of the season. i wouldn't have a problem with the team wearing the current design for a year and it being reworked later on after evaluations on the effectivness of the jersey has been completed. right there is rational for both votes of "yes i like it" and "im not sure".

the reason i decided to go with no is i don't look at that jersey and see tOSU. it may be historically similar to a jersey tOSU had at some point. thats fine and all but then... i wasn't alive at the time. when i see the current design, it doesn't scream tOSU. it screams generic cookie cutter template everyone else is using. while this wouldn't alter my fanatical loyalties to the bucks. it would sadden me a little to see us conform to the status quo for no apparent reason. if i see a 1/4 second flash of players on a football field, i can tell you whether or not its the bucks. i don't want that to change. i don't want our guys to be easily lost in the crowd. perhaps its my rebel side getting the best of me, but i don't much like the idea of conforming for no other reason than a lack of imagination...

no offense muck
None taken!

The poll wasn't poorly worded it was just simply worded so as to narrow the topic at hand rather than broaden it.

I specifically wanted to try and seperate the poll from the emotion surrounding the issue.

Given the tone of the various discussions regarding the new jerseys I think most people expected the "no"'s to be up around 90% or better. I certainly did.

It's a pretty simple poll and isn't that hard to answer. Sure folks don't like it when you try to take away their ability to overthink or bring other factors into the situation...but sometimes it's important to do so.

Now is it possible to have a serious discussion about Ohio State's uniforms without pulling in outside factors? No, probably not. Are those outside factors germane to the discussion? Very likely, yes.

However I think it's important to establish a baseline, and to me that baseline is to see how the jerseys stand on their own merits.
