What happened to all of those typewriters? Are any of them worth saving? Collector's market??

Checks, typewriters and past participles. Vestiges of a more civilized age.

Maybe common core will spruce up the next generations grammar, in which case one of them has a chance.

Yeah. It's somewhere in between hardcore and softcore. It's porn for us folks who can't make up our minds as to which we like better. It also includes grammatical lessons so you can learn something at the same time. I like Dwhora the Explwhora, personally.

My crazy uncle still uses a typewriter. Every year I get "The Christmas Letter" about how wonderful his kids (and grandkids) are and all the sights they've seen, complete with b&w pictures of his growing family.

In my head I imagine him at the FedEx store with an x-acto knife and glue stick putting his annual x-mas manifestos together like the Unibomber. Love my eccentric uncle, but he is fucking out there.

Being a Remington it also doubled as home security. Sucker weighed about 25#. Suddenly overcome with melancholy. I've been through probably 30 odd pc's and never gave a second thought about dumpstering one when the time came. That Remington though....is in some family member's basement somewhere. Sigh.....(yeah, tried an electric but it just had no soul).

Oi, trees/forest (or is it forest/trees?). Language is dynamic and unless it is a published piece (or an exceptionally gross misuse of the language) pointing out grammatical errors is pedantic. Friends don't let friends be pedantic .

I had a Selectric II until I figured out how to save documents in AppleWorks on the Apple IIe circa 1985/6.
