Drew Henson(Official Thread)

Who thinks he will see the field this year? I really wonder how much rust is on him right now. What a good call by the Texans last year to pick him up in the 6th round. They must have had some genius like Dwight Clark advising them.

YES! YES! YES!

My prayer is that he starts from Game #1. I can't stand Carter, and can't believe that he beat out Hutchinson. You can believe that if Carter doesn't start, the Cowboys will have to release him.

Yes, Tyson is still a Cowboy. Back-up center/tackle.

Now where does Couch go?

Rumor up here in the Frozen Tundra is that the Packers might take a good look at Couch. That would be a great fit, IMHO. Let Favre mentor him for a few years and let him take over... sounds good to me.

Please let it be true.

LoKy you just made my weekend with that rumor.

You'd figure Jerry Jones would have learned his lesson after signing baseball reject Chad Hutchinson to big $....

So you're saying that Henson won't make a successful NFL QB? The Cowboys beat out, among other teams, the Packers for Henson. And then you say you want GB to have Couch back up Farve? I'd love to play FFB against your team.

Henson has one decent season in college and all of a sudden he's going to be the savior in Big D? That's just what Dallas needed, another inexperienced QB who hasn't been around the game of football for a few years. In case you haven't guessed, I wasn't very excited about the prospect of Hneson playing for the Pack.

So yeah, I'd much rather take Couch over Henson.

Couch, on the other hand, hasn't been as successful as you'd hope for #1 overall draft pick but he does have experience and has shown flashes of being a pretty good NFL QB. Also, look at his OL and supporting cast at the skill positions and the offensive gameplan for the Browns. They don't exactly strike fear in DC's eyes around the league.

How long is it going to take Henson to adjust to the mental part of being an NFL QB? The learning curve suggests a few years. Couch's struggles with the Browns go a lot deeper than his abilities as I alluded to earlier.
.
What does FFB have to do with anything?

Neither one of those guys would be worth shit in the fantasy world.

I'd love to see couch in GB. It's been thrown around on a couple sports radio stations that they might be in contact with the Browns but nothing coming directly from the Packers yet. Don't forget that there is now the Ron Wolf connection that could make this happen! But for now it remains a rumor.

I just went to the Packers' board and didn't see any mention of it over there yet.

It makes perfect sense though.

One thing Couch did have are some very good receivers. What he doesn't have is any mobility, the mentality to handle preasure, or anywhere near an accurate (15 yds+) arm. He was a 2nd stringer BEHIND a 2nd stringer.

Will Henson be a savior in big D? Maybe. Maybe not. What he will do is save Cowboy fans from Carter. For that I rejoice!

Henson played football for scUM
Couch CHOSE to play for Kentucky

Henson left scUM for George's $
Couch begged to play in CLEVELAND!

Advantage - Henson
I rest my case.

Couch's receivers are and were nowhere near very good. They were marginal at best. The very notion of Kevin Johnson (no longer with the team), Andre Davis, Qunicy Morgan, Dennis Northcutt as a very good receiving core is laughable.

His perceived lack of mobility is directly related to the porous OL that has been put in front of him. There aren't too many QBs in the league that are going to outrun the defensive pressure that Couch has seen while he was behind center. When his blocking broke down, Tim pressed too much, wound up trying to do too much and made some bad decisions in the process. Throw in the fact that the Brown's running game has been almost non-existent. That puts a lot of pressure on a #1 overall pick to perform up to the expectations everyone has put on him from the time he was drafted #1 overall.

Couch is more than adequate in the other areas you pointed out. He doesn't have a rocket arm but he does have deft touch that would make him thrive in a west-coast style passing game. Give him Ahman Green to soften up the defense and the Packers OL and watch Couch live up to the hype that made him the first player selected in the '99 draft. He has plenty of arm strenghth and accuracy to make the 15+ yard throws but then again he was never asked to make those throws while at UK. Couch under the right situation will thrive as an NFL QB. He might not put up hall of fame numbers but could be a very good QB in the right system and with some better personnel.

I'm not quite sure where these guys played their college ball has anything to do with it. Both guys chose to stay in-state to play for their home state schools. Couch thrived under Hal Mumme's wide open offense for 2 seasons while Henson starred for one year under Michigan's pro-style set. Couch was the prime reason for the Wildcats turnaround in during his tenure and helped bring a struggling Kentucky program back to a New Year's Day bowl, no easy task in college football.

What's wrong with Couch wanting to stay and play in Cleveland? And why do you think Henson gets the advantage for taking the money and playing for the NYY?

I'm not sure as to what you're trying to say.

You're right, Lord Sears. Like always. Cleveland's receivers are garbage, Couch is All-Pro, and trying to have a conversation with you without agreeing with you is possible.

Don't worry, I won't waste your time again.
