DT Adolphus "Diesel" Washington (Official Thread)

Better than even Spence? Wow...
That was my thought. I read that and immediately said to myself that Noah wouldn't stand for that very long. These guys will push each other, not in the same position group of course but to see who will create more havoc. I love it. If Urban hadn't landed them both in his first ultra-short recruiting period we wouldn't have NC aspirations this year.

If I remember correctly, Diesel committed before UFM was named HC.

Great updates though. Am very interested to know who got their stripes removed first.

Technically yes, but when he announced there was large speculation that Urban would come in and he referenced him when committing lol.

Having sat with the press pool while observing practices (and then reading their reports afterwards), I would take anything that most of them say with a huge grain of salt.

A majority of them spend their time BSing with one another rather than actually watching the practice. If there is a commotion (big catch, big hit etc.) they will take a break from talking with one another to try and find out what is going on.

If they see someone make one good catch, that player stood out for the day and is separating themselves. If someone drops one pass, they are struggling.

I'm sure Adolphus is looking great and he's going to be a beast, but there is no way that the press have any clue what they are talking about or any credibility when it comes to things like evaluating players during practice.

This is correct. Now if I remember correctly he thought UFM would be the next Buckeye coach when he did.

I don't know why this surprises people. Dude had full blown man beard before he left HS. Came in and got BIG in a hurry. Not to mention he was just a force during our spring game.

Meet a Buckeye: Adolphus Washington

ADOLPHUS WASHINGTON

DEFENSIVE END

Age:19

Year:Sophomore

Hometown:Cincinnati (Taft)

Major:Undeclared

By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2013

  • A U.S. Army All-American and Parade Magazine All-American, Washington committed to Ohio State the week before Urban Meyer was named head coach in November 2011. He was the Ohio Division III co-defensive player of the year in 2011, helping Taft to the state playoffs. He also was the co-player of the year in basketball in 2011 and 2012, and was a driving force in Taft’s 2011 state championship.

Q You and fellow first-year starting defensive end Noah Spence live together. Does it work?

A What makes us good roommates is we’re competitive; we compete over everything, video games, dumb stuff. We’re always pushing each other.

Q –What tune gets you going before a practice or game?

The severity of these injuries aren't all the same, but it probably wouldn't be wise to force Adolphus back if he isn't at least close to 100%. Needing to rotate D Linemen against Cal, it would be tough without him, but there's no sense in potentially worsening the injury if he isn't ready.

Anyway, in short, here's hoping Adolphus is back to 100% very, very soon.
