Alright, this weekend, I'm going to be attempting to make a menu for a DVD for music videos and we'll see how things go. (Cross your fingers). I think I'm going to use that TMPENC or whatever, because I already have it on the PC, but I remember it being confusing. If I can't work it out through a tutorial I might try to 'buy' () LoKy's program. We'll see what happens, I'm not trying to make it too complex so it should be ok.

Much much much respect and love to those who helped me out. I appreciate it very very very much. You guys rule.

I have been working with WinAVI Video Converter and it seems to do what you want although I haven't done that yet. You might want to "buy" a copy of that and give it a try.

You can buy 50 8X DVD's for $25 on sale at Best Buy, Circuit City and other places.
The DVD's I'm trying to copy are dual layered and said I need a DVD 9. I looked up DVD 9 on the internet last night and it means that I need a 8 gig blank DVD so it looks like I'll have to buy the more expensive blank DVD's. :pissed:

If you have to buy dual layer DVD's you're using the wrong software. I just reinstalled Windows last night and practiced burning a DVD without DVDShrink doing it automatically. DVDShrink rips the DVD onto your computer. If you open your burning software you should be able to drag the files into the video folder of the DVD and be good to go. You would be better off buying Nero than a shit load of dual layer dvd's. I just got 100 4X DVD-R's on pricewatch.com for $25.

My problem was that I couldn't find where to drag the file to once I saved it.

If anyone here has RecordNow I could use some help. I bought an HP so all of the new HP's should have it on there.

When I shrink the file, it saves it as two files, an audio file and a video file.

It won't let me drag both to my burner.

I'll try one more time.
I recommend you get DVD Decrypter version 3.5.2.
It is an 800KB download. It is free, I believe.

With it you rip the DVD to a location on your hard drive.
You need to pay attention, write it down or set up a section specially for ripping.
It will remove encryption.

You then use DVD Shrink to reauthor the program.
You go to that exact location you ripped and open the file.
This allows you to shrink it down and remove junk you do not want.
It has a preview section so you can what is happening.
Once DVD Shrink is finished, DVD Decrypter will open up and burn the disc automatically if it is set up as the default burner in Shrink.

It sounds like you can rip, but you are not reauthoring and you do not have the proper burning program.

I just did three of these today, took a little over an hour.

Google- Using Freeware Utilities to back up your movies.
Look for a link to The scrapyard, it has a step by step guide.

bucknola,

Thanks for the help but I'm still not getting it to work. The DVD decrypter is a step in the right direction.

I reauthored the movie and then shrunk it and saved it into a DVD folder on my desktop that I made. When I open the folder, I can see a bunch of files from the movie, audio, video, etc...

but when I go to burn from my hard drive to the DVD, (Using DVD Decrypter), when I use the "browse" button to go back and find the saved movie in DVD folder, it shows the folder as being empty. WTF!!!!

I even went to make it "Show all files" and it still shows the folder as being empty even though when I look at it on the desktop, everything is there.

I'm ready to throw this bitch out the window at this point.

After you reauthor you need to hit back up on shrink.
It should make a new folder for the video.
After Shrink has finished, DVD Decrypter starts up automatically to burn the DVD.

One quick tip.
After you rip, close DVD Decrypter down and open shrink. After you hit back up DVD Decrypter will open up. I cannot remember if Shrink closes or not, I believe you can set it up for either method.

bucknola,

How do I get DVD Decrypter to be my default DVD burner? That stupid RecordNow that came on my computer is a piece of junk.

I'll try again tonight when I get home.

I just got a new IBM ThinkPad that came with IBM's Recordnow also.
You should be able to go to options or tools.
In my case there is a wrench that controls options.
Unclick start recordnow at startup and click disable autorun.
That should do it.
