Early 2010 top-25 (allegedly a fun read)

Nice read but how can you predict anything for next year this early and for that matter even in pre-season?

Sports have become such a soap opera!
besides the top spot, its all a crapshoot. wether you have a poll now or next august, osu will still be preseason number 1. what will change from poll to poll will be the teams from 2 on back.

I think next year's pre-season #1 team will be determined by the outcome of the bowls. If Ohio State wins, then yes, there is a decent chance of them being the #1 team.

If they lose, there's no way Ohio State will be going into next season as the pre-season #1 team. It just won't happen.

Besides, pre-season polls are pretty meaningless for a team like Ohio STate. if they beat the team in front of them the polls and the BCS and the computer rankings will be just fine.

Dude, i was just throwing a fun read in. Polls are the nature of the business. We all are aware that Osu will end up in a good position if they handle thier schedule, as will all the other top teams. Wether that is in the final two would remain to be seen.

Dude, i was just trying to throw a fun read at you. We all know that Osu will be there in the end if they keep winning, but in the meantime there is still going to be a poll.

I added a real thread title. If you start a thread, please indicate what the thread's about, rather than having some BS teaser title.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as of now, don't we have 8 returning starters on defense?

Gibson
Heyward
Larimore
(Lose Worthington)

Homan
Rolle
(Lose Spitler)

Chekwa
Torrence
Hines
(Lose Coleman)

Unless he was counting 2 of Gibson, Heyward, and Chekwa as leaving, or had Denlinger or Russell as starters.

6 would be accurate for someone using the November depth chart (Denlinger replacing the injured Larimore) and understanding that Gibson is gone.

Will Moeller not be back or is that still up in the air??

I'm excited to see if Daze Sanzenbacher can follow in the footsteps of Barn Childress and San Antonio Holmes.

And I'm doubtful that Boise State and TCU will succeed in their "quest to be the first teams to compete in the BCS National Championship game". My money's on Florida and Ohio State.

Actually, by the end of the year, Russell was considered the starter over Hines, so the five losses would be full-time starters Worthington, Spitler, and Coleman, and part-time starters Russell and Denlinger. Gibson will not be considered a "loss" until he actually declares for the draft.

OSU should be amazing next year. Most signs point to us losing to Oregon just like Texas. Our offense has struggled but I think tress definately showed signs of adapting to the spread. Despite what people say i think he had some pretty good schemes but he just didn't have the right rythm in when to call them. Against USC we had no identity but later on we started to look good. The biggest thing I see out there is that sometimes the offense doesn't look comfortable and they don't seem to have as much confidence. Sometimes it seems like they'll fall apart and just get down. On the other hand, that's what the d looked like last year untill the texas game. However, this year the d has surprised me with its resiliance (mispell). Against USC, USC got the touchdown (granted it was a 3 yd drive) and last years d, at least I believe, would have fallen apart, but they ended up fighting the whole game. If we come out and the offense clicks and rides on its confidence not only in the running game but also passing then I think the d will be fine and we could have a hell of a game. If that happens (I definately think its likely) then I think the team will be more comfortable with itself than any other team in the nation and I believe will be the best team next year. Plus if that happens, the offense will have been together for 2 years and will have been through plenty of ups and downs that I think they will be top notch. The only players were losing on offense are small and cordle and miller, which getting rid of cordle could almost be considered an upgrade (one of the last pieces of the slopster line led by boone). However, Browning will be back. He needs to step up. The d looks solid. We're losing spitler and russell, and losing spitler would result in Etienne Sabino playing, who I think has really impressed and we all know he has a lot of talent (5str). Kind of a stretch but it's almost like when we lost pittman for beanie (the clutch vet for the athletic full-of-potential sophomore; although sabino is a junior in this case). As of now I think it should be: #1 Oregon #2 Va Tech #3 Ohio State #4 Boise State #5Ga Tech #6 Miami #7 LSU #8 Arkansas #9 Iowa #10 Oklahoma #11 Wisconson. I don't see how they had Miami so low. They seem to be just like the bucks, in that they have one of the top junior classes led by jacorry harris and most of them have been playing since frosh year. Keep in mind most of them played on the same HS team as well. Their chemistry will be really good. I think the OSU Miami game will be much bigger than people think. I bet both teams contend for the title next year and each finishes in the top 5
