Ed "LL" Warinner (Run Game Coordinator FAU)

i have no interest in beck or wariner finding new jobs or being handed pink slips. but i see nothing positive coming from either retaining play call responsibilities. i don't care much for jerry dinardo, but he hit the nail on the head post game when he said this team had/has no offensive identity. for that to be true of a team in their last game of the year? for that to be true of a team 1 game away from the nc? i don't know how that is anything less than completely inexcusable.

I don't get Ed. He had some games where he was Herman like, ie Scum last year, ND last year, OU this year. And then he had games that Bollman would be ashamed of, many this year. He was an incredible Oline coach, the best we ever had. He took some guys that weren't good and made several Great.

But after watching this O with the talent it has had, produce or a better description LACK of production, the way it has in inexcusable. Period.

Tight Ends

QB/Real OC - New Hire
OL/Co-OC in title only - Ed
TE - Stud
WR - Zach Smith/New Hire

A move from the entire line to just the TEs is a demotion. He doesn't warrant that at all.

Zach Smith has been solid. One bad year of young WR play doesn't deserve a firing either.

Also, the OL coach needs to be separated from OC duties. The line coach needs to be on the field, not up in the open. Hence the need for Studwara.

Stud and Ed are both listed as coaching the O-Line currently, so getting TE to himself is a lateral move at worst. All I know is Ed has done a much better job with way less talent from 12-14, and is a phenomenal OL coach. It's not so much about Stud being bad necessarily, but rather giving Ed full control to do what he does best. Urban's scheme is predicated on dominant run blocking and play-action passing off that game. 2012-14 showed how Ed can make that happen

I somewhat agree re: Zach Smith, but he will be coaching for his job in 2017 if he is indeed back.

Getting a real QB coach and OC would allow Ed to be on the sidelines coaching the OL, and provide input into the play calling as needed. This would have continued to work really well the last two years, just like it did 12-14, if Beck was even half as competent as Herman

Blame has to be spread around for last night's game. The offensive line has to be in the discussion. What made Cardale so good in that post season run? One thing was the offensive line. I watched part of those games just recently and he seemed to have all the time in the world back in the pocket. He was not pressured like JT was last night.

I was thinking the exact same thing last night. Warrener back to coaching the o line and Stud to coach TE's.
Not gonna happen. Warriner will be OC somewhere else next year. He may or may not succeed. He needs to fail again on his own at a lesser program before he will go back to o line. And that won't be at osu as you don't go back to the school where your career started to falter. Just how it typically works. Be happy with Stud and a new OC and a new qb coach.

I can't see many programs outside of D1 that would offer him an OC position after the shit show this past year.

Am I miss remembering something but I believe the NCAA passed a rule saying that teams could add another Assistant coach. The speculation is that it will mainly be used as a recruiter and they'll promote some guy maybe like Pantoni or maybe one of the better recruiting QC guys....
