ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Doesn't surprise me. The company as a whole (Disney) is becoming more and more like a corporate zombie that cares only about Wall Street investors. Thankfully my end of the stick is mostly safe until they figure out monkeys could run the parks. :paranoid:

How will this impact the ESPN you consume? It probably won?t ? at least not on the surface. Changes are happening all over ESPN ? as I reported last month, Charissa Thompson is Fox Sports-bound ? and on the radio side, the company recently parted ways with Mike Hill, a spokesperson confirmed to me this morning. The layoffs come at a time when the overall economy is rebounding, and Disney stock is on the uptick.
holy sunshine and lollipops batman. I imagine this author will continue to detail the shrewd excess weight that Disney chooses to trim off and send to FS1.

:slappy: the title says it all, why is this even a story?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9317790/joe-theismann-sees-potential-nfl-qb-lebron-james

Theismann: LeBron James can be QB

When Joe Theismann watches LeBron James play basketball, he sees a potential NFL quarterback.

The former Washington Redskins quarterback expressed his belief in telephone interviews to Fox Sports Florida on Saturday and to the NFL Network's "NFL AM" show Tuesday.

"I would love to work him out and also serve as his agent. I'll go wherever he wants this summer. He could play another four years in the NBA before seriously trying the NFL," Theismann told Fox Sports Florida. "There are not a lot of 38- or 39-year-old basketball players, but there are 38- and 39-year-old quarterbacks, so there's always time for him."

ESPN assholes bought the rights to the entire College Baseball postseason, including regionals this weekend.

and what are they doing with these rights?
well not televising LSU.

first time since 2000 our regional won't be on TV.

and those assholes at ESPN say this will "really push the college game to the next level"

not sure how paying to keep something off the air is advancing it in anyway.

yeah, yeah, ESPN3 will have them online.
but that ain't the same as actual TV that we normally get.

On the flip side of that, ESPN played only SEC games in their regular season softball coverage with a few Big XII games thrown in. No one else got coverage. No PAC12 (UCLA, ARIZONA, AZ STATE, WASHINGTON and CAL are all top teams) and no B1G (NW, Nebraska and scUM are traditional powers that were ranked all year)

Guess Howie Schawb got fired/laid off at ESPN, according to Deadspin. I remember that trivia show they had with him.

I'm still laughing that when ESPN fired Mike Hill, they didn't realize they were a year off on his contract (expires in June 2014 not June 2013).

The Schwab knew sports trivia like a mofo. Considering how shitty ESPN is with facts, I bet they've been paying him for years without asking him a fuckin' thing.
