ESPN Top 10......Utah?????????

Believe me, all you hear about down here is SEC/ACC; which really doesn't make an enormous amount of sense as Atlanta has gained over 2 million people in the last ten years, many of whom are from the NE and Midwest. Barnhart's paper won't even publish a tOSU box score half of the time.

Well, I went back and looked through you post history and I would have to say you have brought NOTHING to the table as far as conversation goes. Let this be a final warning the this crap will not be tolerated anymore. If you wish to post and talk football that is fine, but this crap will stop!

polls are not made to reflect who the best 25 teams are. rather, they are made to predict what the final top 25 will be.

is utah a better team than us? no. would we beat them in a head-to-head? absolutely. could they finish the year ranked ahead of us? that's entirely possible, especially if they have zero or one losses.

Urban Meyer is a great coach, and he almost had BGSU undefeated a couple of years ago. That said, the chances of Utah running the table in their conference is as good or better than a team in one of the "Big" conferences, so putting them in the top 10 is in fact not a stretch, I don't think. If they are 10-1, they will be ranked ahead of a team from the Big 10 who is 8-3, even if the Big Ten team would win a game between the two.

I totally disagree. If that's the case, why do they keep changing the polls every week during the season? Polls initially make their best "guesstimate" as to who is the best and then adjust as the season progresses.

Mililani,

Most pollsters/media members try to predict the national champion, and that's who they vote #1 in the preseaon poll. Who teams play, where the games are played, how many starters are back and what stars are no longer with the team are the big factors. I believe that predictions based on scheduling are just as big a factor as the talent levels of the teams.
