F DeShaun "The Diesel" Thomas (Panathinaikos - Greece)

It makes sense for him to go. Even if he showed some marked improvement next year, Kentucky's seven freshman are still going to push a lot of guys into the middle of the second round, which is where he'll probably go now.
I saw an article today that said he might go very late in the first round because of his play in the NCAA tournament. I think that I side on Twitter and it was a quote from a writer on CBS Sports FWIW

Thanks for being a great buckeye DT! I think this is the best and smartest move for him and his family...i may be in the minority but i think after private workouts with scouts and GM's he will be a late 1st round pick because of his size and ability to score

Was really hoping he would come back 1 more year this is going to hurt big time. Seems like everytime this team is ready to break through and win a title someone leaves a year early. Turner a few years ago on what could have been a title team that lost in the sweet 16, Sullinger last year and now Thomas.

Oh well that is life in college these days.

Good luck DT.

I hope it works out for DT in the NBA, I'd really like to see him on a roster next year. But I think if he is staying in the draft as it appears, he's going out on a limb. The most trusted NBA draft prognosticators have him a late 2nd round pick, and as we have seen with Lighty and others like Hunter if you're projected second round by those guys sometimes you slip out of the draft entirely as teams gamble for foreign prospects and guys they see with upside rather than go for the "proven" prospects. If he doesn't make the NBA, I think a lot of people will come back and question his decision to go "early" when he could've been a star at OSU for another year. Hard to put a value on building a legacy - he easily could've been the all-time leading scorer at OSU with another year, possibly B1G POY as well. I hope it works out for him with the NBA, but this decision wasn't a clear one like Turner or Sullinger who knew they would be 1st round picks and were ready to play in the league.

I totally agree. He is a finished product..the NBA right or wrong drafts on potential or upside..I think DT's ceiling is well known and hopefully he can make a roster but the situation will have to be a perfect fit.

Ehh, 5 of those 7 are Kyle Wiltjer good, if you get my drift.

Good luck to Deshaun in all his pursuits.

Best of luck to "DT."

This kid gave everything he had to helping this program become what it's been during his tenure here.

Real simple here it's time to get paid!

Go take advantage of the monetary potential out there DeShaun and take good care of your child. You're a better man today because of what TOSU offered to you. "We" as fans of the University are better off having had the pleasure of watching you play here the past three years:oh:

Peace
